@TomHarry1878@SnowCastle100@AllBlacks No matter the semantics NZ has been shipping coaches for years & really needs to get proactive about retaining the best of that. Sure we worry about the players (picking overseas or not) but coaching is just as important. NZR finally have some adults making smart decisions...
@macleod_rm@nzherald If that's your view, Sherman/Hopkins win... the longer Luxon stays, all the better for Labour. Not a Labourrite here at all but seems obvious really
@PapaPrickly@RusselNorman Not wrong, fascinating to see all the comments aye... people are blind, nothing will change them it seems. The insurance companies angle is a stinger, who would have thought that squid of an industry would be the leader lol
If I had to put my finger on it, I would say that NZ has had no strategy, for over four decades, we have not invested in our people, in our future, in our infrastructure, we have had no plan, no strategy.
We knew the climate crisis was coming and fossil fuels were a liablity, we knew renewable energy was going to be the way of the future.
We had the clean green brand. We knew that storage was the main bottle neck in renewable tech.
Did we boost research into battery tech? Did we design efficient deployable wind turbines? Did we research solar panels? Micro hydro? Did we look at distribured decentralised grid models? Affordable EV design?
We knew housing was a problem, did we look at modular, affordable housing design?
Did we shore up our supply chain? Forests, milling, did we look into sustainable materials, efficient new materials? Hemp board, laminates ... Did we consider that timber and plant based materials are a way to lock up CO2 in infrastructure?
We knew we had a disadvantage in proximity to markets, software completely side steps this issue, did we look at building software engineering hubs, encouraging coding and comp sci?
Did we think about giving graduates a deal if they stay and work here?
Did we look at the big picture and diversify into value added products that we could export to the world?
No ... we've done next to nothing, but put all our eggs in unsustainable, over stocked, polluting dairy, and tourism,
bulk commodities, logs, milk powder.
We have sat on our hands, a nation with the population of Sydney, larger than the UK, like stunned mullets, our political and media landscape infested with #AtlasNetwork slogans, waiting for the magical free market fairy and "competition" to fix everything for us.
Ripping off renters, and flipping houses, tax free.
Under the delusion that a nation this isolated, could get by on "foreign investment", and "small government" and "user pays" and f'ing "competition", that tax cuts for ultra wealthy rent seekers would "trickle down".
-That we should privatise the infrastructure our generations built and paid for, and allow our people to become dispossessed serfs in their own land at the mercy of a global class of ultra wealthy parasites.
It's f'ing ludicrous.
