I have not studied state nor local minimum wage laws. But there are decades of history showing that changes in federal minimum wage law hikes lead to rising unemployment for African Americans.

The first federal minimum wage law was passed in the 1930s to stop companies from hiring black workers, who were willing to work for lower wages than white workers. It was racist in its intention, and in its effect.

Every minimum wage hike serves as an additional restriction on the lowest skilled workers. No employer will ever pay an employee more than the value of his labor. So if you raise the bar higher, you are saying that if a worker's labor is not worth "this much", then that worker does not get to have a job. Why would anyone except a racist ever support such a measure?
