@TsellSellersfam@AmyRemeikis Judges see many levels/degrees of assault. Are you really saying ALL assaults should be subject to prison & isolation? At what age do you think a kid should not be jailed? Are all assault charges by an officer automatically credible? Simplistic punishment solutions are so easy.
@Nev92612361@AmyRemeikis Increasing the penalties for child or adult crime and failing to get better outcomes IS EXACTLY doing “the same thing over and over and expect to get a better outcome.”
@Bunkers444@PriorInfo@AmyRemeikis@GrogsGamut So jailing ten year olds, adding mandatory isolation, increasing the penalty is OK? How young do you think kids should be to avoid a gaol sentence? Any evidence that increasing the penalties for crime works?
@SZamparutti @ProfTimStephens @whereisdaz Knowing a little about reaching conclusions without knowing the details, it can only be kindly assumed you know when Peterson lodged his Visa application to miss his deadline.
@ProfTimStephens @whereisdaz Nice work quoting Peterson’s set yr house in order before…etc. You’ve hoisted him on his own petard. Conservatives usually hate that - congrats.
@AbdalQaim @Cranky_Old_Guy@whereisdaz Thanks Khalil. Gee, that should be embarrassing for “cranky old guy”s wild speculation Labor wouldn’t let Petersen speak. He stuffed up his VISA application. It takes a certain intellect to never let the facts get in the way of baseless speculation.
@LeftOut70342840 @yelgeb @NickFeik@crikey_news What on earth makes you think Dutton’s ex Home Affairs Dept “called” others to tender? Nick Feik defined it was a closed tender, noting later the Audit Office said 14 other organisations could have satisfied all or parts of the tender. Paladin got the hundreds of millions part.
@ElvisCostaLives @yelgeb @NickFeik@crikey_news Dutton was the minister of home affairs that offered the shonky Paladin the Manus Island garrison services in the initial closed tender, that nearly doubled, lickety split. Then extended their contract often, while they had thousands of breaches. MSM still lack curiosity - why?
@BarrySteeleNB @yelgeb @NickFeik@crikey_news@AustralianLabor Wow, the stinking-to-high-heaven Paladin Manus contracts were awarded in hasty, closed and extended tenders by Dept of Home Affairs, under ex Minister Dutton. Yet you are switching blame to the ALP? Bizarre! A career in News Ltd (mis) reporting awaits you.
@StuddertNatalie@PeterWMurphy1 Bit unfair. Some LNP politicians fared well, post politics. Andrew Robb negotiated/gave a 99yr lease on the Port of Darwin, scoring an $800,000 consultancy role with the Chinese govt-linked Co. The Minerals Council gave Ian McFarlane a good job, OK, at Abbott’s public prompting.
@LisaGlass200@PeterWMurphy1 Abbott getting sacked as UK Trade Advisor didn’t even score the tiniest line on the text lines they run on the bottom of ABC TV channel 24. That channel seems to collect 4 news items at the start of the day, then repeats all day. Pathetic!
@PeterWMurphy1@MycatEdmund Thanks Peter. So UK Labour Govt has dumped Abbott from the “UK Trade Advisor” role, given to him by ex Tory PM Liz Truss! No wonder Abbott & Truss have been touring hand-in-hand, promoting her book. Conservative losers dumped by their own party before the voters could dump them.
@MycatEdmund@TheRealPBarry Radar blip news, blink and you’d miss it. It allows editors and producers to say, Hey, we covered it! House fires and police chasing a stolen car on a highway get more coverage.
