That’s almost £6 million of funding from the previous...£0! Ancient woodlands have been chopped down and are buried beneath orderly lines of conifers. Dedicated funding will be used to restore these ghost woods. Forestry England announced it will double its speed of restoration.
🚨 BREAKING: 6 million people are facing hunger in the UK, including 2m children.
This is a 20% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels.
These new stats from DWP reveal a heart-breaking injustice; too many people are being trapped in severe hardship.

🚨WITNESS APPEAL – TEIGNMOUTH / SHALDON BEACH 🚨
This took place earlier today (27th July) at Shaldon Beach, Teignmouth, Devon.
A member of the public reports seeing the man in the photo below pick up his dog and throw him against a stone wall multiple times. The witness states he then pinned the dog to the ground and punched him repeatedly, while the woman with him stood by and watched.
According to the witness, this happened because the dog didn’t recall immediately and the man got his jeans wet retrieving him.
If you recognise this man or the woman with him, please get in touch with the OP via the link below. .
😡 Please share — this dog needs to be protected.

Right now, nature has no legal rights. Our rivers, woods and wildlife can be polluted and destroyed, treated as resources to be used. Early Day Motion 562 wants to change that, recognising nature as a legal entity with rights, and a duty of care to protect it.
As we enter yet another week of drought conditions please, I beg you, put out water for the animals.
Our nocturnal wildlife is dying of thirst.
A terrible, painful way to die.
And you hold the solution, the cure.
A turn of the tap will save a life.🚰
So get out your casserole pot lids, your flan dishes, your old baking trays - anything that is shallow and wide and not easily tipped.
It doesn't matter what it looks like, this is an emergency.
Put them out at dusk, front and back garden.
Your local charity shop will have loads of suitable water dishes - so with one simple act of kindness you can benefit so many.🥰
Keep them clean.
Keep them full.
Keep them coming.
Please share this to save a life today.
Such a shame the BBC has cancelled Winterwatch. We're one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, and we need shows like this to help us connect with our wildlife! Please join me in asking them to rethink this decision. https://t.co/HBYpo6qVJM via @38degrees
A 9 year old child was buried in Liverpool today. Murdered by gang violence. A violence from drug criminals who thrive on the poverty created from the inequalities of society.
Olivia Pratt-Korbel rest in peace young angel, we shall remember your smile and mourn you always.
Without being all "Wah, it's actually hard to be a celebrity", for David Beckham to come alone, and queue for ten hours, when everyone would recognise him, is pretty ballsy. GOLDENBALLSY
Its 2023.William is on the throne. The funeral for Elizabeth went on so long Charles died before it ended. The queue to see his body was added to the one to see the queen and starts at Tebay services on the M6. Tmrw marks the 1st anniversary of the center parcs massacre.

'This is frankly pathetic.'
Andrew Marr's devastating takedown of 'idiotic heavy-handed policing' as people have been arrested for protesting against King Charles.
