Do you notice how all it takes for this inflammatory drivel to blanket the airwaves is for the tabloids’ pet Nick Griffin to decide that chucking a bomb might help his party’s by-election prospects? One tossed ball, and away the whole pack goes.

In a new strand , 'Antiques and Curios', I will celebrate the lesser-known titles of the finds I come across and share them with you.
Today, I look at the rare 'Harlem Blues' collection from 1999.

The forecast strength of this El Niño is nothing short of astonishing! Plotted below are all the strongest El Nino’s on record vs the 2026 forecast (thick white line). Look at how deviant this event has the “potential” to be! Forget “Super”, if this verifies it deserves “Supercalifragilistic expialidocious!”
The latest median model ensemble forecast monthly peak via @hausfath calculation is +3.3°C in the Nino 3.4 region in December.
The next closest is 2015 at +2.6-2.8 depending on data source used. Now it’s important to note that this event may not reach that height. Frankly I’d be mildly surprised if it does. But it’s not a forecast out of thin air, it’s the median of 13 models and 643 members, so we’ll see.
(To include 1877 I had to use NOAA PSL link to HadISST data which showed the 2015 event max at 2.6). #elnino
If you haven’t gotten a keffiyeh yet, please consider doing so if you feel comfortable with it. Humanizing Palestinians is a crime to Zionists. Start there. A very powerful start.
Celtic Fans For The Liberation Of Palestine (CFLP) has released a statement opposing the potential appointment of Robbie Keane as Celtic FC's new manager:
“As Celtic fans, we oppose the proposed appointment of Robbie Keane as manager of Celtic Football Club.
Celtic supporters have a long and proud history of solidarity with the Palestinian people. For us, Robbie Keane’s decision to manage Maccabi Tel Aviv during the genocide in Gaza is impossible to ignore. To choose to manage a club in Israel while, less than 40 miles away, the same country was using indiscriminate weapons of mass murder against a defenceless people is unconscionable.
Celtic was founded by a community shaped by the legacy of genocide, displacement and famine. Our club’s roots lie in solidarity with those who suffered injustice and oppression. We cannot forget where we came from, nor turn our backs on those facing genocide today.
At a time when Celtic requires unity and collective purpose, this appointment would be deeply divisive among the support. It would also represent a predictable and uninspiring choice at a moment when greater ambition is needed.
We urge the Celtic board to listen to supporters’ concerns and reconsider this appointment.”
For those who don’t know:
Israel doesn’t allowing the entry of prescription lenses or eyeglass frames into Gaza.
Not weapons.
Not military equipment. Glasses.
When civilians are denied even the most basic tools needed to see, it raises serious questions about the human cost of these restrictions.
Yeah, the problem here isn’t that the lads are pretending the government is shit and deeply unpopular. Anyone with eyes could’ve told you that would happen. The problem is more the press shitehousing them into command of their party and then power, when nobody likes or wants them
Richard (@leninology) reflects on ecology, especially in its more reactionary forms, and tries to imagine a wilder more joyful embrace of nature. https://t.co/2YPgiVFBry
Non-Brits don't appreciate that the UK is fundamentally authoritarian. No written constitution, all judges are political appointees, government censorship blocks public interest stories (D-notices), rule of law is weak. For centuries an Oxbridge clique has run the whole country
Some questions for @AndyBurnhamGM today:
1. Do you support Shabana Mahmood's ban on @cenkuygur and @hasanthehun travelling to UK?
2. Reports say Mahmood will have a role in any future Cabinet you appoint if you become PM. Is this true? Will you invite a Labour Together alum into the heart of your government?
3. What is your position on Israel? Will you back a mandatory arms embargo and start to apply sanctions on Netanyahu's plausibly genocidal project?
You've gotten away with dodging the questions on the campaign trail saying your focus is domestic; but last week you proudly messaged your support for sanctions on Russia.
For many people in the UK, these are fundamental, red-line issues. You should address them head-on.
I’ve been banned from the UK. I tried to get on a flight to London to attend SXSW London and give a speech at Oxford. I’ve been banned for criticizing Israel. Are we free anymore? This is oppression of Western citizens by our own governments on behalf of a different country!
If there’s ever accountability for the behaviour of two different British governments, then a whole lot of important people are *at very least* going down in history as willing collaborators with genocidal fascism, if not going to actual prison. So none of them will budge an inch
Today I ‘interviewed’ Facebook whistleblower on stage at Hay…& she couldn’t say a word.
Facebook took legal action to prevent her speaking. What pathetic, pointless vindictiveness.
Tim Shipman was right: Britain really is chained by the neck to America forever because of a secret reason we’re not allowed to hear, and that reason is “most of our ruling class are very right wing indeed, very racist and they think the US is cool and correct, whatever it does”.
Oh here we go again. @YorkshireWater claiming they are "INVESTING" £8.3 billion between 2025 - 2030.
That of course turns out to be completely untrue.
The only money I can see that shareholders are putting into the business is paying back the "loan" they took, by March 2027 and the £100 million they were supposed to pay to help reduce sewage dumping by the end of March 2025.
Every other damned penny of that £8.3 billion, that's £8.2 billion is being funded directly out of bill payers' pockets and not a damned thing to do with shareholders.
Why are water companies allowed to tell such utter lies?
Ofwat?
