@NoNonsenseND I'm not sure this is common, but it exists on some level. I think most of us want all support levels to get access to the support and care they need. It's easy to assume unpleasant opinions are more representative of others than reality.
@LisaBritton This is often true today. Historically, it was women's health that was ignored & excluded from scientific research, & that discrepancy has caused continued problems for women. The pendulum swinging to punish & stigmatize men now doesn't help anyone. 2 wrongs don't equal a right
@LisaBritton Opening up and being more vulnerable is good advice to men. The problem is labeling masculinity and men as toxic, as you say. These are not mutually exclusive ideas.
@ryanburge If you seek out opinions outside your personal algorithms, you see frequent viral posts claiming men are all evil rapists/murderers, followed immediately by women are all manipulative whores, etc. That's just one example! No wonder everyone mistrusts each other. Outrage machine.
@TheCjH_Podcast@she_obey Ok, well agree to disagree. Spending too much time on this app is not good for our mental health. It slowly warps our thinking over time. I'm getting off for today.
@TheCjH_Podcast@she_obey Just because you can't imagine a solution doesn't mean you should get to facilitate mass murder. Ppl like you are why I'm terrified of advancing AI capabilities in pathogen bioengineering. Even aspiring mass murderers may soon have access to designer pandemics w/ no expertise.
@she_obey@TheCjH_Podcast I also think everyone deserves to thrive. I am not happy at all with the state of the world. We don't diverge that much, except I don't believe in collective guilt or punishment. I believe in holding the individuals responsible for the shit they've done, not everyone else too.
@she_obey@TheCjH_Podcast Not everyone is responsible for the world the way it is. Extinction also means all the children on Earth, let alone all the good people fighting for a better world. Hence the evil I was talking about.
@Scene1891@Ryan22McPoyle@LorelShea@DaizyZeeX Antisocial, selfish people are the problem, and they come in all forms. It's far easier to condemn half of humanity than to use cognitive effort to rise above such prejudice and recognize that good people should stand together to make the world a better place.
@leylajuana@LorelShea@DaizyZeeX I can't donate more than all of my organs. All the male nurses and doctors I've work with, organ donors, can't donate more than their organs. You've allowed your predjudice to harden your heart against half of humanity based on the unfortunate actions of individuals.
@lilisy_l@LorelShea@DaizyZeeX If the actions of some members of a group make you intentionally turn a blind eye to the humanity of the entire group, then you are a bigot, by definition.
@Polycognivore@LorelShea@DaizyZeeX Nope. Itβs not about men belonging to a different groupe. Itβs about the donating to a group that doesnβt give back or donate. Why do you think women donate more and receive less? Use your brain. I have also taken myself off the donorβs list.
@Autistic_Lauren Yes, that explains a lot. I wasn't diagnosed till I was in my 40s, and I'm lucky to be here after all the depression and self-harm ideation. I wonder how many autistics are no longer with us, and no one ever even knew why they took their own lives. I wouldn't have fully known why
@surfing8225591@LorelShea@DaizyZeeX Yet, the reason is precisely why it's terrible. Look, I knew it was pointless to argue morality with ppl who will condemn & disparage entire categories of people based on the actions of a subset of individuals. A tale as old as bigotry itself. Not sure what got into me. Cheers.
@thenationblinks@LorelShea@DaizyZeeX I don't feel shame for the actions of other people. I'm an organ donor. I care for ALL my patients with compassion regardless of their demographics. I would do everything in my power to help someone who thought I was inferior because of my gender, because I'm not like you.
@LorelShea@DaizyZeeX Such a terrible thing to admit. The shame I would feel if I had wanted to help save lives, but then refused because I realized I might accidently help a human from a group I didn't like, would be unbearable. But I would never be so spiteful and cruel.
