Assessment is the MOST important thing for every leader to be concerned with.
It is both the outcome and the process.
Enhancing assessment practices will change the game for kids.
AND
Leveraging assessment principles is how we create change as leaders.
If we could get the idea that the kids don't come to school to do work for us, but instead they come to school to experience learning designed by us, we might see some real changes.
Our job is to design for learning to happen.
Not to come up with work for kids to do.

Every kid should learn that humility and kindness aren't signs of weakness. They're strengths of character.
Recognizing your faults doesn't mean you lack self-esteem. It shows you have self-awareness.
Showing compassion doesn't mean you lack backbone. It shows you have heart.
Principals, stock up on Post-it notes for fall! When you visit classrooms, leave a post-it note on their desk telling them how lucky their students are to have them & share something you learned or enjoyed about the visit. I call them "Post-its of Praise"
