It's taken awhile, but I'm proud to say that my Made by Apes application for @MadMeerkatNFT is finally approved by @BoredApeYC !

I thought this is a good time to summarise all that is going behind the scenes when I say I've been pushing the MM IP hard via different initiatives. Some of them might seem weird, but hear me out.

1. Made by Apes License
Apefest blew my mind and allowed me to see how branding could take off with an iconic design - Apes of course. Anyone who is in the NFT space is sure to recognise one. The question is - A lot of it has been to push a product and service, but what about a whole ass project?

This license permits me to weave in elements of my own ape with whole collection(s), and given that a lot of inspiration for our inception was by the Bored Apes (both artwork and culture, I've been vocal about this from time to time), this reduces a huge friction and allows Mad Kats to gain a bit more attention when we push merch. Now, with weaved elements together, it's not just a meerkat - It's a meerkat that looks somewhat familiar to something you might have seen on the Internet.

2. Figurines
Well, I'm not shy to admit either that I know right now we are not well known at the stage where we could get some meerkats onto Funkopop just yet. But figurines have been a huge part of many people's collectibles journey since childhood, and I don't see any difference here. The route here is easy: Find your forever Kats --> Get your figurines --> Feelings of emotion to these Kats get deeper.

3. Gaming and manga characters
We're collaborating with a few projects that have shown some traction and demand to introduce some madness into their worlds. Getting a whole collection into 1 of them definitely doesn't make pragmatic sense just yet, hence I'm glad we went through a CC0-ish Treasury Kat @Duke_of_Madness , that allowed everyone to come together to celebrate via a representative that everyone feels a belonging to.

I've also submitted an application for @OverpassIP , that I believe will push all three categories and more further. Let's see how this goes, but I would like to think that we have a little step in all these frontiers, each inching us a bit closer and closer to something madder we're trying to create.

Week wasn't the best for me but I'm glad I had some good stuff to close it off. Lastly I know a few have told me the Merge is overdue - I know it is. But it will make sense when introduced finally with some of these bullets taking off.

First incoherent-thoughts-shared-on-X of 2024:

Sometimes, I get the same question posed to me as @TyLuckyOfficial did - Not sure what's going on but love seeing all the @MadMeerkatNFT on the TL.

I did say this before, the ultimate sustainability is 1. other forms of revenue and 2. delivery of a product/service/experience that intrinsically is what you are buying for. 1 is something that is definitely crucial, but thankfully we have quite a long runway for that. 2 is something we've been focused on for a long time now.

That's not to say I'm trying to ignore what many view NFTs to be. Investments, "going to the moon", wagmi (have not heard this for sometime still lol) are all terms we hear day in day out. Hype projects coming in and stealing the show, one wrong step killing projects etc. I know what this space entails and continues to be. I just think that given the tendency for humans to love interaction of some sort, and online relationships are in a sweet spot where both extroverts and introverts can actually enjoy themselves sometimes more than IRL, there is more to an NFT community.

Of course a high FP naturally is the best marketing for people to enter the community. And we hope that our little experiences continue to create that. But there's another group out there too. People who enjoy just being there with like-minded people. Just knowing that day in day out, there's another person you can chat and vibe with in a safe space amidst this chaos.

This year, I hope to create more of this feeling in parallel to what we will be releasing on our end (See burrow). I hope the bull market comes and everyone comes out on top as much as we can, but regardless of how that goes, seek home in a space where things come and go, and find certainty in a world full of uncertainties.
