Wouldnāt be surprised if the plotters persuaded a no-hoper to stand to extend the time they have to āprepare the messiah for governmentā.
If that happens and they force Sir Keir to hang around I hope he forces through all sorts of legislation while waiting.
Iām thinking my Labour Party and the country will be finding out the difference between āpersonalityā and character over the next weeks and months.
Dreadful day.
āOne final disagreement with Tony. He argues that this not about a stronger assertion of Labour values. I know what he means. On their own, absent of a plan, values take you nowhere. But Britain does need Labour values, it has needed Labour values for a while. Our plan is guided by them. Our vision is shaped by them. And the future we are building ā a country that feels like it truly belongs to us all ā must use them as its bricks and mortar.
That is what we are doing.ā
@Keir_Starmer
@Keir_Starmer personally Iām a great admirer of your leadership style and qualities, it is different and less flamboyant than most leaders or leadership contenders. When we have to put up with the psychopathic and psychologically disturbed leadership style and tone of @realDonaldTrump you are the foil, the antithesis, the radical. The leadership archetype that takes us back or returns us all to a leadership style many have never known or experienced and as many have forgotten. It is a style of leadership from a previous era that you have brought back into fashion. It isnāt overly or overtly charismatic or polished. It can be slow and ponderous but it is always authentic, genuine and heartfelt, I donāt expect or want anything more than this from my prime minister.
Very Important Message!!
Do NOT, and I repeat do not buy plants treated with Neonicotinoids. Bees take the pollen back to the hive and feed it to the brood.
This is a number one cause of the colony collapse. It's important to NOT buy these plants!

In 1978, Luciano Pavarotti returned to his hometown cathedral in Modena and sang Panis Angelicusānot alone, but beside his father.
His father wasnāt a global star. Just a man who loved to sing.
One voice, polished to perfection. The other, warm and human. Together, they created something deeper than musicāsomething real.
Itās not just a performance. Itās a son honoring where he came from.
And you can hear it: the love, the pride, the quiet gratitude⦠lingering in every note. ā¤ļø
Patient attends A&E with a chest infection⦠standard stuff.
Decides to pop outside for a vape and a bit of fresh air because, letās be honest, the waiting room atmosphere could finish anyone off quicker than the illness.
Next minute⦠casually clocks a bloke acting a bit off outside the maternity ward.
Not aggressive, not shouting⦠just that āsomethingās not right hereā vibe every frontline worker knows all too well.
So what does he do?
Doesnāt walk away.
Doesnāt ignore it.
Goes over for a chat.
Two hours laterā¦
š§ Talked down a ālone wolfā terrorist
š Convinced him to open the bag (yeah⦠that bag)
š£ Found himself staring at a pressure cooker bomb
š Asked about blast radius like heās doing a dynamic risk assessment
šŖ Moved the whole situation away from the hospital entrance
š¤ Built enough trust to keep the bloke calm
š¤ Given him a hug when asked
š Got him to agree to call police before he āchanged his mindā
All while his own phoneās dead and thereās not a single staff member in sight to wave over.
Genuinely the most British de-escalation imaginable:
āAlright mate⦠talk to me⦠whatās going on?ā
No PPE.
No backup.
No radio.
Just vibes, empathy, and absolute nerves of steel.
Meanwhile inside:
Crews stacked 8 deep
Handover delays hitting biblical levels
Someone asking ācan you clear pleaseā every 30 seconds
And this guy is outside single-handedly preventing a mass casualty incident like itās just another shift problem.
Police turn up, job gets wrapped up, and he just wanders back in like:
āYeah Iām back⦠still got that chest infection by the way.ā
Probably still had to wait for discharge as well.
Massive respect though.
Thatās not luck, thatās character. Calm under pressure, compassion when it mattered most.
George Medal couldnāt have gone to a more deserving person.
Proof that sometimes the difference between a normal day and a major incidentā¦
ā¦is just one person deciding to step forward instead of walking away š
Seen as todays #DailyPictureTheme is silver, thought this video was worth sharing. The 18th Century Silver Swan from @TheBowesMuseum as you rarely see her, out of her case during maintenence. So beautiful. š¦¢

I spotted this plaque of Sergeant David Jones VC while inside the derelict Everton Library on St Domingo Road, Liverpool. It was originally located in Heyworth Street School, which he attended as a child. I contacted Liverpool Museums to inform them of its existence in the hope that they might add it to their collection, but they replied that they already had enough of his artefactsā¹ļø

After sixty years of service, Mersey ferry 'Mountwood', now called Royal Iris of the Mersey, is apparently bowing out on Tuesday 31st of March 2026.
Catch it for the last time.

Goosebumps! People often ask, is Shakespeare still relevant? Here is a great example, from the Steven Colbert Show, in which Sir Ian McKellen delivers an extraordinary speech. Shakespeareās words are timeless, urgent and important.
