Calling all readers! 📚 We have lots of exciting new books in the #Library ! Come along and find yourself a new book to get lost in 📖 #ReadingForPleasure
Most of life occurs in those ten-minute stretches where nothing seems to be happening. You’d be shocked at how much reading you can get done while you’re standing in line or riding the subway. There’s no such thing as “performative reading” when we are in a literacy crisis.

“Sit in a room and read--and read and read. And read the right books by the right people. Your mind is brought onto that level, and you have a nice, mild, slow-burning rapture all the time.”
― Joseph Campbell, born #OTD in 1904
People say there’s no magic in books but the fact that you can string words together to create a series of visions in someone else’s brain is still our greatest achievement as a species.
We are excited to go offline this Sunday! Feel free to use this pic on your social media to show that you’re joining #BookFairiesOffline ☺️ You never know, it might encourage others to pick up a book and enjoy some quiet time away from screens, too!
What are YOU planning to read?
📚📚 FREE BOOKS 📚📚
We'll be here with our free books for pre schoolers, plus a few for grown ups 💜📚💜
Today at 1 - 2.30 pm at Friarwood Valley Gardens

@SoledadFrancis I grew up in a house with no books (and no readers), in a town with no bookshop. I read voraciously. Thank goodness for good librarians and teachers. I wouldn’t be a reader (or an author) today without them.
Our new Poetry Corner is already a hit! 📚
It’s wonderful to see children choosing to spend time there, reading and enjoying books together, with Mr O’Toole joining them to share a few poems. ✨🌿

Want to hear something upbeat? For the last 9 years I’ve done book tours & noticed (in trains, airports, planes, cafes) fewer & fewer people reading. UNTIL NOW. On my recent tour I saw so many more people reading books. They’ve had enough of their phones? The tide may be turning.
