For the 1st time, there are 5 generations in the US workforce at the same time.
This is the new normal as Americans live longer and want (or need) to work longer.
But it's creating tension. Gen Z won't be promoted as fast as prior generations b/c it's "crowded" at the top
Boomers won’t retire & it’s ruining the economy
Seriously, greedy boomers are the main reason you can’t get promoted
It’s their fault there’s no upwards mobility at ZogCorp
Boomers don’t want to spend any time at home
because they’re married to a boomer
& even boomers can’t stand being around a bloody baby boomer
So they’re refusing to quit & the knock on effects are brutal
The Primary Impact
Is that the entirety of Gen X is trapped with a mortgage in a meaningless middle management position
They’re all ‘Directors’ & ‘VP’s’ of nothing
They manage 6 twenty somethings & are starting to realise they’ve been sedated with an inflated job title
Their pension pot is being eroded by inflation & they’ll be working until they die
The Secondary Impact
Is that millennials have been stuck doing entry level work for no pay for 15 years
The vast majority of them live at home in their 30s already
And the rest will be moving back shortly because they’re paycheck to paycheck
& don’t make enough money to even dream of RENTING Maslows hierarchy of basic needs
The Tertiary Impact
Is that Gen Z doesn’t give a fuck at all
They have correctly observed that there’s no reward for hard work on the traditional path anymore
So they’ve given up completely
Most have restored to doomscrolling and quiet quitting
While the ambitious ones are busy gambling on memecoins
At least false hope is better than no hope, I suppose
