MINI RANT turned long but I am sick and tired of the double standards when it comes to Straight vs Gay Creators. I say this with 5+ years of experience btw.
I’ve seen so many straight creators get away with content and storylines with minors (whether that be fictional or not) I still find it really uncomfortable and inappropriate (i.e. Maid Dresses).
I bring this up because someone commented on a post of mine that I should have the Outcast *HIGH* Characters wear Maid Dresses in a video. Specifically the thigh high kind commonly used to embarrass or humiliate characters.
I am NOT comfortable doing that with my high school characters.
Yet I’ve watched straight creators do similar things and receive zero pushback and are most times even praised for it.
But sure when I make stories about two guys falling in love, dealing with drama and relationships, and going through the same kinds of scenarios straight couples have portrayed for YEARS, then suddenly that’s inappropriate?
And somehow I’m the one who gets called a “pedo” or a “groomer” for it?
It’s disgusting and unfair.
Gay relationships are not inherently more inappropriate or sexual than straight relationships. Treating them that way especially while excusing that same and worse behavior when it comes from straight creators is a blatant double standard.
You don’t have to like my content. Hell you don’t even have to watch it. However throwing serious accusations like that at someone simply because they create stories that are inclusive to queers and POC, while others do the bare minimum… if anything… and recieve nowhere near the same scrutiny. That’s not criticism.
I am sick of it.
