Today I covered cancel culture with my students. We looked at definitions from Ng and Hudley who talk about cancelling as an individual act of withdrawal of support - a form of activisim against issues we don't have much power to control.

My article revisits McLuhan's concept of media ecology and discusses its limitations, "classical media ecology remains anthropocentric, representational, instrumental, and transmissional, firmly anchored in the modern rationalistic, and liberal intellectual tradition".
This article is part of a larger project on games and the post-Anthropocene. I am currently interested in how the Anthropocene might “leak” into our entertainment practices, and how players’ responses might shed light on the anxieties generated by the Age of Man
Excited to be part of this issue of the Journal of Games Criticism curated by @larry7m and @PoppyWilde. My article explores some methodological implications in the study of games and the Anthropocene, focussing on a re-evaluation of the notion of scale. https://t.co/2DmLOkLmXa
The special issue features a diverse and fascinating collection of works, covering a wide range of scopes and approaches, all of which explore the common concerns and potential connections between the two fields.

I have a book on Future Werewolves for Bloomsbury and need a 5-6,000 word essay on werewolf/Lycan hybridity in the Underworld franchise. I don’t need it til September 2025, but need someone in place now.
