Three great days at the Cotton Conference are nearly done.
We've caught up with plenty of familiar faces, met some new ones, and had some great conversations about what's happening on farms this season. We've also learnt a lot from the speakers and everyone else attending the conference.
It's fair to say it's been a busy few days... and the bags under Thomo's eyes are probably the best proof of that! 😄
If you're still at the conference and haven't had a chance to say hello, there's still time. Come and meet the team before we start packing up at 3:30pm.
Thanks to everyone who's stopped by. We're looking forward to another cotton season and helping growers get the most from their monitoring and data.

👋 Meet Myff!
Every great field team needs someone behind the scenes making sure everything keeps moving—and that’s where Myff comes in.
As our Administration & Office Support superstar, Myff is the friendly voice on the phone, the one keeping the office organised, supporting our technicians while they’re out in the field, processing customer invoices, handling administration, and making sure all the little (and not-so-little) jobs get done.
From coordinating paperwork and keeping our systems up to date and supporting the team every day, Myff helps keep Porosity running smoothly behind the scenes.
While the boys are out installing weather stations, telemetry systems and monitoring equipment across Australia, Myff is back at the office making sure everything before and after the job is taken care of.
It’s often the work no one sees that makes the biggest difference—and we’re lucky to have Myff as part of the Porosity team. 💚

Meet Tom (aka Trobbo)– the man who keeps the wheels turning at Porosity. 👏
As our Operations Manager, Trobbo is the one making sure the right people, equipment and jobs all come together at the right time. From coordinating what’s in the field to keeping projects on track and customers looked after, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes—and Trobbo is right in the middle of it.
Calm under pressure, practical, and always focused on finding solutions, he’s the kind of person every team needs. Whether he’s planning the next install, solving a last-minute challenge, or helping the crew out in the field, Trobbo’s commitment to getting the job done right makes a huge difference every day.
Thanks for everything you do, Trobbo. We’re lucky to have you leading our operations! 💚

Meet the Team – Frazer 👨💻
Every great team has that one person who can solve the problems everyone else thinks are impossible… and for us at Porosity, that’s Frazer.
As our 2IC and resident tech guru, Frazer is the mastermind behind dashboards, data integrations, and all the clever behind-the-scenes magic that keeps our systems running smoothly. If you’ve ever wondered how your data ends up looking so good and working exactly the way you need it to, chances are Frazer had something to do with it.
Frazer is also the definition of a gentle giant. Calm, patient and incredibly intelligent, he has a laid-back personality that keeps the whole team grounded. In fact, he’s so relaxed that every now and then we have to remind him that not everything can wait until tomorrow! But when it comes to solving complex technical challenges, there’s no one better to have in your corner.
Whether he’s building custom dashboards, untangling data issues or finding a solution where everyone else has hit a dead end, Frazer approaches it all with quiet confidence and a wealth of knowledge.
We’re incredibly lucky to have him on the Porosity team, helping our customers turn data into decisions every single day.
💙 Thanks for being the brains, the calm, and the tech wizard behind so much of what we do, Frazer!

And in other incredibly exciting news.........
Australia will soon have cell numbers starting with 09. Well not for traditional mobile phone usage, but for IoT devices like weather stations etc.
Actually, the latest version of the YDOC telemetry units I use has an e-SIM, which is a wonderful development........20 years after my last CDMA Kyocera flip phone had one!
Meet the man behind Porosity Services – Brian "Thomo" Thompson.
Long before Porosity became what it is today, it was Thomo's first baby. Built from the ground up through hard work, long days, plenty of kilometres on the road, and a genuine passion for helping people in agriculture make better decisions through technology.
On Friday, you would have found him exactly where he loves to be – at a field day, talking face-to-face with farmers, agronomists, consultants and industry partners. While the technology has evolved over the years, one thing hasn't changed: Thomo's belief that great AgTech starts with great relationships.
Whether it's soil moisture monitoring, weather stations, telemetry, water management or simply helping someone solve a problem, he's always happy to stop for a chat and share his knowledge.
Porosity may have grown, but at its heart it's still built on the same values it started with – practical solutions, honest advice, and genuine support for Australian agriculture.
If you see Thomo out and about today, make sure you say g'day!

Meet the people behind Porosity 👋
At Porosity, we know that great technology is only part of the story — it’s the people behind it that make the real difference.
From long days in the field installing equipment, to troubleshooting data, supporting customers, building dashboards, answering calls, scheduling jobs, and helping growers make smarter decisions… our team is what keeps Porosity moving.
We’re a group of practical, hardworking people who genuinely care about Agriculture and the customers we work with every day. Whether it’s a weather station in the middle of a paddock, a soil moisture probe in a cotton field, or helping someone understand their data better — we’re proud to be the people behind it.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing the faces behind Porosity so you can get to know the team that supports your farms, projects, and businesses across NSW and beyond.
Because at the end of the day, Porosity is more than sensors and data… It’s relationships, support, and people who are passionate about helping Agriculture work smarter 🌱📡#PorosityAg #AgTech #Agriculture #SmartFarming #CottonFarming #FarmData #RegionalNSW #PeopleBehindPorosity #AgInnovation #TeamIntroduction
So rainfall… where the bloody hell are ya? 🤷🏼♀️
- Some reasonable falls in the last 2 days through the guts and south of NSW, but many areas missed out on their fair share.
- Decile maps for the 4months confirms that the drought is biting in NE-NSW, esp the New England having the driest ever start to the calendar year in 200yrs of records.
- @TomRobson was installing some additional #SMP soil moisture probes last week for Central Tablelands @llsnsw @centraltablelandslls Farming Forecaster program to improve drought preparedness - F’n dry at Ilford, better at Fitzgerald Valley!
🥵 the best thing about no rain… less compaction 😅
- extremely dry finish to NNSW and summer cropping, with no rain for 30days.
- heavy machinery on dry soils = less compaction ✅
- our #SMP (soils moisture probes) showing crops drying the soil to depth ✅
- all 252 probes now removed, wrapping up the 25/26 cotton season… literally!
And… continuing our webpage photography, thanks to @ambercreative
Happy Easter!! 🐣
A spectacular sunrise @sbwine with Tom Ward on their last day of harvest for vintage-26!
- Our probes provide reliable data to ensure timely weather irrigations over a bloody hot summer
- The result; quality grapes (with reasonable yields too), for a magnificent wine, to be enjoyed for years to come!
- @ambercreative capturing some great photos for our webpage overhaul (looong overdue!)
WISHING all our amazing farmers a happy Easter - may the chocolate, food, wine, diesel, fertiliser, family and memories be plentiful!
Phew! Summer crops are mostly done, with picking/harvest under way! Frazer and Trobbo have been doing many miles and long days, over the last few weeks (and a few more ahead too). 252 probes to be removed, from Goondiwindi in the N to Condo in the S. #porosityservices
First moisture probe in for the 25/26 cotton season! The plants are steaming along here at Trangie NSW, in the Macquarie valley.
Most late-September to early-October sown paddocks are now ready for a probe, with the first true leaves just starting to emerge across the region.
Our 18th annual summer crop season is away, with the 1st of our ~300 SMP Soil moisture probes going into corn yesterday by our ol’ work-horse Frazer 💪. This is our time to shine in our favourite game… providing our AMAZING farmers with great data to improve efficiencies!!
Exciting Career Opportunity - AgTech Field & Tech Support N-NSW.
Are you passionate about Ag, organised, have a strong work ethic, good communication skills and a desire to work in AgTech?
We are looking for an awesome person to join our team;

Water height sensors are a great way to save unnecessary trips to check on chanenels, saving time, labour and diesel. They can be set up with an SMS notification, where the user will get a text when the water level has hit a specified height. #precisionagriculture🌾🚜
Another high quality SMP installed - helping this farmer & his agro make the best decisions WITH CONFIDENCE on red soil, which can be tricky. Oh… and a perfect slurry from yours truly 😉😉!!
