@angelalambert14 "shared info to protect him" ... obviously i don't know any of the details but you need first to be honest with yourself about this, was it absolutely, totally to protect him, or was it for your own ego that you did this. Mummy knows best attitude will not help build bridges.
@WickedVintageUK i think deliberate cruelty and unnecessary harm to any sentient mammal should be treated in the same way as if the victim was a human.
@Trident4000@SuzieWo20886208 at the consumer level, metric generally makes sense because using the more universally accepted system is easier and thus more advantageous. there are a few exceptions such as most people in the uk think in miles for distance and speed, as well as feet and inches for height.
@Trident4000@SuzieWo20886208 When you manufacture and ship goods ... essentially 10s are not so versatile ... 2 rows of 5 in a case. with 12s you have 2x6 or 3x4, with 16s you have 2x8, 4x4.
you'd be suprised how many items are still packaged in gross quantities (144, eg 12x12)
@Dangerdave1979@JudeAvalon@SuzieWo20886208@Rikhayes1 not true, both systems have advantages and disadvantages. although regarding money, of course the decimal system is better, mostly as the standard of basic arithmetic is so poor that adding in tens is the most accessable.
@SuzieWo20886208 i assume Suzie Wong is some kind of parody account - however 12 times tables would be handy, i would have thought they still teach them in schools.
many things are still packaged in 12s rather than 10s for good reason, if you don't understand why, it doesn't really matter.
@ZubyMusic 3). any cash left, i'd spend it on getting 1 to 1 advice from a permaculture expert on how to develop my small holding (not yet bought as none of the 100k gone towards it, as i understood the question to mean the money must be spend on self development/knowledge/improvement)
@ZubyMusic 1). i'd spend a chunk on history books to develop my collection (which i love reading, not just adding bookcase yardage like an ignorant oliogarch does) - i believe history is key to most things.
@ZubyMusic 2). take my brother on another couple of road trips in the usa (we've already got many weeks under our belt and hope to get around all of north america before we die) - i've learnt and developed so much on each previous trip.
@CanalRiverTrust shame about (a few, not all) cyclists who go much too fast, plus all the electric scooters and all the electric bikes that are a clear and present danger. i know plenty of people with toddlers who would love to walk them down the canal but just won't because it is too dangerous.
@GlennDutfield @geordiekirsty really? shops (and certainly supermarkets) in the uk will not sell multiple boxes of paracetamol, ibuprofen, aspirin etc. as part of suicide prevention measures.
