In the summer of 1941, two students met at Clark Atlanta University in Georgia. Lyle Gittens was playing basketball. Eleanor was in the crowd watching the game. Years later, she would smile and say she couldn't remember who won because all she remembered was seeing Lyle.
Just one year later, on June 4, 1942, they married in the middle of World War II. Their honeymoon was brief. Lyle, serving with the U.S. Army's 92nd Infantry Division, was granted only a three day leave before returning to military duty and later deploying to Italy. Much of their early marriage was spent apart, with Eleanor in New York expecting their first child while the couple stayed connected through letters, many of which arrived with sections censored by the military.
When the war ended, they built the life they had dreamed of. They raised three children, dedicated decades to public service after passing New York civil service exams, and watched their family grow to include grandchildren and great grandchildren. Eleanor even earned a doctorate in Urban Education from Fordham University at the age of 69, proving that it is never too late to chase a goal.
More than eight decades after saying "I do," Lyle and Eleanor were officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's longest married living opposite sex couple, the oldest living married couple by combined age, and the oldest married couple ever by combined age. At the time of the record, Lyle was 108, Eleanor was 107, and together they had shared more than 83 years of marriage.
When asked the secret to such an extraordinary life together, their answer was beautifully simple.
"We love each other."

@SCInternacional O Inter consegue a façanha de levar gols em casa, no início do jogo, e consegue outra façanha de não conseguir empatar o jogo no resto da partida.
E essa zaga... Em matéria de ruindade, acho que só o Maurício supera.
