Sooo four boys jumped my 8 year old son on friday cause he beat them in basketball (he’s fine he held it down his school brother helped him out) .. he’s telling me what happened & I’m getting pissed whole time he’s so excited he got into his first fight! My 5 year old daughter gone say “why you didn’t come get me” .. me and him both said what you was gone do 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m extremely disappointed in us as Nigerian youths. Extremely.
I woke up this morning to get ready for work without electricity and without water. The last time we had power in my area was Saturday morning. This is Abule Ijesha, Lagos.
I work a 9–5. I earn a substantial amount every month, and yet I’m still dealing with something as basic as the lack of electricity and water.
And meanwhile, young people on Twitter are still allowing tribal sentiments and religious affiliations to divide us in 2026.
Do you people not understand how limited you are compared to young people in developed countries? Do you not understand that if anything happens right now, the politicians who are the most privileged among us have the means to leave this country while the rest of us remain here to deal with the consequences?
Do you genuinely think the elites care about the tribal and religious divisions they use to keep us fighting each other?
Your Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources in Lagos can be online flaunting a Patek Philippe while young people are struggling with basic infrastructure. And this is just a Commissioner.
They know exactly what they’re doing. They know that as long as we’re distracted by tribe, religion, sex, politics and whatever other silly division they can exploit, we won’t look up and ask the people actually responsible for our living conditions the difficult questions.
This is disgusting.
And honestly, we should be ashamed of ourselves.
Not because we are powerless, but because we have failed woefully to recognize where our collective interests lie.
We keep fighting each other while the people benefiting from this dysfunction continue to live above the consequences of it.
We need to do better.
The woman who sells pap for me was complaining to my neighbor that her 9-year-old daughter has started developing breasts, and to make matters worse, the girl has started menstruating.
She was almost in tears.
I asked her what was wrong with a 9yr old growing breasts and she said, “She is too young. Men will start pursuing her. How will I explain that this girl is only 9 years old? In our time, 9-year-olds didn't have breasts.”
At first, her fear sounded almost funny to me. Because children developing early is not some indication that they are ready for men. Puberty doesn't suddenly make a 9-year-old an adult.
But then I remembered something. Even when I was in school, particularly in junior secondary school, the girls who some male teachers went after were often the ones who developed breasts early, had fuller bodies and looked more physically mature than the other girls. Those of us who looked like broomsticks? Nobody sent us.
And suddenly, I understood why this woman was afraid. Her fear wasn't completely irrational. She wasn't worried because she thought her daughter had suddenly become a woman. She was worried because she knows there are men who look at a child's developing body and choose to ignore the fact that she is still a child.
And that is what bothers me.
Why should a mother have to fear her daughter developing breasts early because men might start pursuing her?
Does a child's body suddenly make her less of a child? A 9yr old with breasts is still 9 years old. A 9 yr old who menstruates is still 9 years old. Her body developing early does not give any adult permission to sexualize her.
Maybe the conversation shouldn't be about teaching mothers not to fear puberty. Maybe we should be asking why there are grown men who need to be taught that a child is a child, regardless of what her body looks like.
Just incase I haven’t emphasized on this enough!!!!

We heard that a church member gave birth on Thursday, so two other sisters and I decided to visit her after church.
Imagine my surprise when we got to her house and found her turning a big pot of semo, with a pot of egusi soup cooking on the stove.
I asked, “Madam, didn't you just give birth?”
She said her husband's siblings and their children had come visiting, so she had to entertain them!
“Where is your husband?” I asked.
“He went out to get them drinks,” she replied.
We immediately chased her out of the kitchen, finished cooking and cleaned the kitchen.
Guess what the visitors were doing in the sitting room? Watching a movie!
Please, you don't visit a woman who just gave birth and expect her to entertain you. You're there to support her, not add to her workload.
Bring food, help with chores, or simply let her rest.
A visit after childbirth should be a time to show love and support, not give a new mother more work to do.😏😬

My sister has been on her period for over 4 weeks now & we have tried everything to stop the bleeding . She is hospitalised, can't breathe on her own & losing too much blood.
If anyone has experienced this before, how did you overcome this?

7 years ago today, Maura Higgins overheard Tom Walker say it would be “interesting to see if she’s all mouth or not” before their Hideaway date and absolutely lost it.
