Over 800,000 people are severely or profoundly deaf, and 87,000 rely on sign language as their primary form of communication. Let’s not create any barriers for those who feel isolated.

In England, we’re also disappointed to find out that the BSL GCSE is delayed and unlikely to be available in September 2025, as planned.
Together with deaf young people in England, we've fought for this for years. It’s incredibly frustrating that they will still be waiting.
@ambideafkid Signcast (tm) at Positive Signs is preparing third podcast after two successful Sign / BSL podcasts, our first one started in 2023, so yes you’re right, we re proud to establish without funding and possibly the first in UK, would be interested if anyone else is doing same 👍👍
The UN says the Govt is still failing to address its systemic violations of disabled people's rights.
Rather than act on the UN recommendations, Ministers still challenge them!
You can't convince disabled people that 14 years of Tory govt have been anything short of disastrous
Thankyou @vickyfoxcroft you were so right to raise this, thankyou. We are supporting 13 Deaf people in London alone, with new applications and COC's further delayed by unclear communication from ATW - waiting list grew from 12 weeks to 20 weeks to 26 weeks in 3 weeks !

@graemekwhippy agree with you - nothing is working as far as new applications and change of circumstances requests goes, how does a waiting list ever jump from 12 to 20 weeks then to 26 weeks within 3 weeks ?
Unbelievable: waiting list to an adviser is now 6 months, this week ATW advised ‘ applications made at end of Nov 23 are now being seen to’ no hope for new starters / CoC’s who need BSL /LSP support at work
If the Government genuinely wants to help disabled people, it needs to deal with the Access to Work backlog.
Ministers definitely shouldn't be bragging about it going up!
@Saltbar @hccath I was allocated an adviser ( without asking I might add ) for my annual renewal three months before the renewal date .. just doesnt make sense !

@Saltbar@LesleyCFmum@SE_Lipspeakers Self employed / contractors (LSPs ) will be able to off set essential travel and other costs, when doing tax self assessment or via accountant. It’s a fact that ATW will not pay travel costs for the same reasons.
@Saltbar We were told 20 weeks last Wednesday. How does a waiting list creep up from 12 to 20 weeks in a day ? Renewals seem to be about 8 weeks ahead of renewal date. Doesn’t make sense
