@1000yearhouse I always find inspiration and enjoyment in your pics.
A couple months ago I finally got a woodland mills sawmill off marketplace. Been cutting some timbers out of our woods. Haven't built anything out of them yet; maybe this winter.
@Empty_America TBH probably true, but also probably worth it for a few years if it means we can get rid of Abbott. He's a corporate/ Israeli/ data center lobbyist in a wheel chair.
@uncvoss Well, they're not a monolith. But one guy owns a staffing company, another is a vp (?) of a local grocery chain that his great grandpaw started, a third is a dentist w/ a wife who's a vet, a fourth owns the local chic fil a franchise. Not sure about the 2 at the end of the block
@shagbark_hick Yeah but then your house in the country falls to neglect. Pipes burst while you're away. Trees fall. The porch rots out. A real hassle. Just pick a place and stay there.
@CathApolDiscipl@brady_penfield Precisely. The burden of proof lies on what is new.
I am not a regular attendee of an SSPX mass. But I certainly don't want to be part of a denomination that says the SSPX are a different religion.
@ianvanheusen You and JPII overlook that the primary purpose of the death penalty is the restoration of just order in society. Incarceration does not fill this same function. This has been overlooked, ignored, but never refuted. It is indeed a rupture from traditional Catholic teaching.
@FrMatthewLC The primary purpose of the death penalty is justice. This is the traditional understanding that modern popes ignore but have never refuted.
@jackhunter74@ThomasEWoods Bro you're just off. The pope is wrong about the death penalty, probably correct that it is in bad taste to televise an execution, and completely correct in his condemnation of Israel.
Basically just look at what they would have said a thousand years ago and that's correct
@swamthetiber25 The primary purpose of the death penalty is the meeting out of justice. This is a legitimate right and duty of the state. As such, it is necessary as long as proportional crimes are being committed.
@TexitDarling Leo's ideas are not in keeping with traditional Catholic teaching. Further, the burden of proof lies on what is new. Ergo, Leo's teaching is false, and not morally binding.
Even as a Catholic, there is a law that is higher than canon law.
