The reaction to the location data makes a lot of sense. Most of the debates we have here are about American politics and American culture. We don’t care what some random guy in the Philippines or whatever has to say about these subjects anymore than he would care what we have to say about the internal disputes in his country. If you’re foreigner, I’m sure you have a lot of great opinions about the stuff happening in your own country. Talk about that all you want. But the debates in and about America are for Americans. Mind your own business.
Or the State Department stating, "The Afghan people deserve to live in safety, security and dignity. We in the international community stand ready to assist them." STAND READY TO ASSIST THEM? YOU JUST ABANDONED THEM. https://t.co/Akm3GI6u0b
Nancy Pelosi just said this: "The U.S., the international community and the Afghan government must do everything we can to protect women and girls from inhumane treatment by the Taliban." WE ARE ABANDONING THEM IN REAL TIME. https://t.co/b0wBl618bQ
I'm hopelessly stuck in Kabul with my wife and child.
Like myself, hundreds of other journalists are also stuck here.
I have an 11—months old daughter.
Please pray for her safety.
The eviction moratoriums will incentivize landlords in future to demand many more months of rent up front, which will make it harder for cash-poor people to rent homes.
Good work, government. Way to maximize moral hazard in the housing market.
But here, the Biden team decided to sacrifice all their hard work, for that minimal benefit.
So now, their vaccination ramp up will have to go back to step 1, because nobody will believe anything Biden says about "well, if you want to get back to normal...".
What's next?
Masks have ALWAYS been a peripheral issue. Not once in the last 18 months have masks been the critical element that saved us. They are useful, they are cheap, but they also aren't the critical factor in these surges.
So now, we've spent this entire week telling people that, no, getting vaccinated won't stop you from having to wear a mask.
We've heard people complain for MONTHS about the vaccine hesitant. Right?
Do you think this messaging will make them less, or more hesitant?
Come on.
If a 13-year-old black girl is stabbed to death in Ohio by another 13-year-old girl, that's not a national news story and nobody knows her name. If a cop stops a black girl from being stabbed by a 16-year-old black girl, that's systemic racism. https://t.co/lqEzleeXrz
