This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.
From all of us at Potomac Fire Company, thank you to those who served and protected our freedom. 🇺🇸
Today was a special day in Mountain Maryland as we celebrated the resilience of communities still recovering from last year’s historic floods. While the Trump Administration played politics by denying critical FEMA aid to Maryland, @GovWesMoore stepped up with a $12 million investment to help these communities rebuild and recover.
In Maryland, we don’t leave people behind — and we put politics and differences aside to support neighbors in need.
Congratulations to Westernport Mayor Judy Hamilton on receiving a special honor from the Governor for her extraordinary leadership, and thank you to the students, teachers, first responders, and community organizations whose hard work and dedication helped make this recovery possible.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - POTOMAC FIRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES $675,000 IN FEDERAL FUNDING FOR NEW FIRE ENGINE
The department thanks Rep. April McClain Delaney, Senator Van Hollen, and Senator Alsobrooks for their Leadership and Support.
Westernport, MD — The Potomac Fire Company No. 2, Inc. is proud to announce that its Fire Engine Replacement Project has been awarded $675,000 in Fiscal Year 2026 Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS). This essential funding was included in the FY26 Minibus Appropriations Bill passed by Congress and signed into law by the President.
This achievement would not have been possible without the strong support of Congresswoman April McClain-Delaney, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, and U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks, whose ongoing commitment to rural emergency services and community safety was instrumental in securing this investment.
“We are deeply grateful to Congresswoman April McClain-Delaney, Senator Chris Van Hollen, and Senator Angela Alsobrooks for their support in securing funding to replace our aging fire engine. This new, state-of-the-art apparatus will enhance fire protection and emergency response across Allegany and Garrett Counties, Maryland, and Mineral County, West Virginia. Following the severe flooding this past May, which caused significant damage to our firehouse, this support is especially meaningful. Thanks to their dedication, our firefighters will be better equipped to protect lives and property. We sincerely thank Congresswoman McClain-Delaney, Senator Van Hollen, and Senator Alsobrooks for their commitment to public safety and our community’s resilience,” said Jonathan Dayton, FF/EMT & Public Information Officer
“The firefighters of Potomac Fire Company No. 2 work tirelessly to keep our Western Maryland communities safe — efforts that were especially crucial during the devastating flooding in May. We fought to secure this direct federal funding for a new fire engine to help ensure the Company remains ready to respond anytime an emergency strikes,” said Senator Van Hollen, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
“I have been proud to partner with Senator Chris Van Hollen to secure critical funding for Maryland – this includes supporting the lifesaving work of Potomac Fire Company No. 2. Our communities count on the federal government to support them after disaster strikes, and when Allegany and Garrett Counties were devastated earlier this year by flooding, Potomac Fire Company No. 2 was there to provide for their community. This funding will support their work, replace their aging fire engine, and help build back after the devastation,” said Senator Alsobrooks.
