FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEDICAL STUDENTS OF GMC JAGTIAL CALL OFF PROTEST FOLLOWING WRITTEN AGREEMENT WITH GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES
JAGTIAL, TELANGANA – October 9, 2026 —
The student body of Government Medical College (GMC), Jagtial, announces the immediate cessation of our peaceful protest. This decision follows the successful negotiation and signing of a formal Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) executed today, October 9, 2026.
The legally binding agreement was signed between the Chief Engineer of the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department, Government of Telangana, Vensa Infrastructure Limited, and the Student Representatives of GMC Jagtial. The authorities have officially acknowledged our fundamental grievances regarding statutory infrastructure demands and have provided a strict, written timeline for the handover of all essential campus facilities.
The First Party has explicitly bound the Department to adhere to the following finalized schedule of handovers:
Boys and Girls Hostel Facilities: The complete hostel facilities will be officially handed over to the college administration on or before November 25, 2026.
Permanent College Building: The entire permanent structure (excluding the Administrative 'D' Block), which includes lecture halls with centralized air conditioning and fully equipped departmental laboratories, will be completed and handed over on or before December 9, 2026.
Grounds & Sports Amenities: The sports ground will be completely developed and handed over by the first week of January, 2027.
Complete Campus Infrastructure & Landscaping: The remaining campus infrastructure, encompassing the Administrative Block, proper internal roads, a functional drainage system, and full landscaping, shall be completely finished and handed over by the second week of February, 2027.
Given these concrete written assurances from the Executing Authority and the finalized transition plan to resolve campus construction hazards, we are officially calling off the strike and resuming all academic and clinical duties with immediate effect.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the student body for their unwavering unity, discipline, and peaceful conduct throughout this movement. We also reiterate our profound thanks to T-JUDA, HRDA, the cooperative government officials, and everyone who supported our strictly apolitical cause.
A WRITTEN AGREEMENT AT LAST! ✊
After days of peaceful protest, GMC Jagtial students have secured a written agreement with the R&B Department, setting deadlines for hostel handover by November 25, 2026, the permanent college building by December 9, 2026, and complete campus infrastructure by February 2027.
This is a step forward. Now, the focus must be on implementation and meeting every deadline.
Promises are now on paper. We will keep watching until they become reality.

UNITY WORKS. BUT WRITTEN COMMITMENTS MATTER. ✊
T-JUDA stands with GMC Jagtial students and commits to following up until real, measurable progress is achieved.
We welcome the attention from the DME and the assurance from the R&B Minister. Now, those assurances must translate into written commitments and visible action on the ground.
Our fight is for basic infrastructure, quality medical education and our future.

This is where GMC Jagtial students are studying today.
A building being used as a temporary academic space, while the permanent college campus remains unfinished nearly four years after establishment.
