Air India expresses its sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, @TVKVijayHQ and the Government of Tamil Nadu for reducing VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF).
The reduction from 29% to 16% at Chennai Airport and to 1% at other airports in the State is a welcome step that will help lower operating costs and improve air connectivity.
We look forward to strengthening our network and serving the people of Tamil Nadu better.
@CMOTamilnadu
A historic milestone for Tamil Nadu’s aviation sector!
We are reducing VAT on aviation fuel for domestic airlines from 29% to 16% at Chennai Airport, and to just 1% at other airports across Tamil Nadu. By slashing this, we are taking a decisive step towards making air travel more accessible and our regional airports more competitive.
Lower operating costs can encourage airlines to introduce new routes, increase flight frequencies and expand operations beyond Chennai. This means better connectivity for our cities, a boost to tourism and trade, and new opportunities for businesses and travellers across Tamil Nadu.
Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, we are building an aviation ecosystem that connects more regions, unlocks economic potential and powers Tamil Nadu’s next phase of growth.
Appreciate the Tamil Nadu Government’s decision to reduce VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), a welcome step for the aviation sector. Thank you to Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru @TVKVijayHQ for this initiative.
Making air travel more affordable requires the Centre and States to work together. Our shared priority must always be the passengers.
