This is something I have really struggled with as a teacher working with students who are faced with language variations, as well as, underdeveloped fine motor abilities. When writing is involved, It is frequently considered a "trigger" task.
A1: We model writing ourselves, we expose students to writing that relates to their interests, we expose students to writers who ARE students themselves - so they see that writers are not just authors of books, we all are writers

A2: you honor and value all students' stories by practicing listening. While this is a simple answer to a complex question, its critical that teachers practice authentic and probing listening skills. Students know and FEEL when you are truly listening #Litbankstreet#G2Great
@maryrandell19 I shared this realization as I was reading this book too. Such a powerful reminder of what is going on around us even if it may not be apparent in our immediate surroundings.
A1: through reading we gain exposure to things we may not otherwise know from our immediate surroundings, this knowledge leads us to ask questions, questions which are the first vehicle of change

A2: it's so important yet again for teachers to help students see this "line" to see how crossing this line impacts others, the teacher, the class community, getting students to buy into a classroom dynamic/culture is KEY #G2Great#LitBankStreet
@sheena1832 I think not capable and also not worthy - forgetting that when we give students the why we are pushing their thinking, their empathy, their perspective taking
A1: Discussion, explanation, communication - teachers need to take the time to share the why with students to help them understand why collaboration is important #G2great#litbankstreet
A5: Willingness to acknowledge their own places for growth teacher leaders can begin to make genuine room for those who they work with to partake in a collaborative process for growth.

A5: an important part of collaborative leadership develops from someone who is equally comfortable modeling their mistakes as they are with their triumphs.
