@ssegal615 I had to write in journal for every grade in high school. Each year I had to write in a different class( math, science, lit, etc.) I learned that writing is important in any content class. #LitBankStreet
@Elizabe47901532 Also teachers should differentiate writing in the class. Sometimes students are given a task and have to write within an allotted time. This can be very difficult for students. Allowing students time to work on a written piece for more than one day would be great

@b_emmade This has been the greatest struggle for me. In upper elementary I have focused too much on grammar. Thank you for your comment. I will definitely focus more on the writing and making sure students understand the writing craft.

@MxEducation@honoredtoteach I strongly agree with this. Sometimes teachers assume that students understand how to get an answer in math. However, if students wrote about, teachers can better understand what students have grasped from a lesson or a strategy. #LitBankStreet
My students learn through PowerPoints, laptops, and tablets. Students with special needs are able to access the curriculum through apps on tablets and by typing lessons with laptops. Students are more engaged in lessons with connected to technology.

I would address bullying by: First, I would discuss bullying in terms of the classroom contract. Second, I would discuss the class expectations of how we treat each other. Third, I would address the student to find how the underlying cause.

Q4 I create a classroom of acceptance of others by exposing students to others through literature and nonfiction text. I would use text to discuss the importance of treating people the way they want to be treated and relating the text back to students.

Q3 I would create a warm environment for students on the first day through games and inviting students to create a place where they feel safe, accepted, and eager to learn.

@VorenbergAbby Great Point! The setting up of the classroom also connects to Universal Design for Learners. Every Classroom needs to give access to it. Teachers need to think about how children access the classroom, engage, and interact with it.
Q2. I believe that the teacher and the students must set rules that help the classroom be a safe and welcoming place. The line of what is acceptable and what is not must be created at the beginning of the year.

@PradillaRachel That's true! I wonder if teachers sometimes think that students are not capable of understanding the WHY. Maybe teachers need to think about their own beliefs about children's capabilities.
Q1 I foster a collaborative culture in my class through different class activities. I may have students do turn and talks to share ideas, book clubs, group projects, etc. Socially, I may encourage students to play with different students at recess.
