@NickGibbUK @tele_education How does this sit with Westminster currently sanctioning that some children can be forced to miss a year, any year solely for starting school at compulsory school age? #summerborn
Some SLT really do need pulling up, like the head who made a child miss a year (child went from R to Y2) because having a child 'out of cohort' was "against" her "personal pedagogy". There needs to be much more accountability in the state school system. #summerborn
Some parents of #summerborn children are relocating, sometimes to a more amenable area within England, or Scotland (not Wales where WA has buried head in sand) sometimes abroad. Some are choosing private education, some home education - because of the shambolic system in England.
A Local Authority is allegedly telling schools that the Department for Education has informed them that #summerborn children starting school in reception at CSAge MUST miss a subsequent year.
Families who have an agreed reception rather than year one start at CSAge for their #summerborn children who relocate within England, are having to start the whole process again. System is a shambles. Service families in particular are affected.
@theresa_may Education Dept. OK with it, but Treasury blocking children starting in reception class @ compulsory school age, please explain. #summerborn
@sb_campaign@lancstelegraph This article is not only factually incorrect the comments below are verging on racist! Alternative facts are alive and well in Lancashire!
@someones_no_one @lancstelegraph And fails to call into question the Local Authority response. When it's clear the LA has not complied with Code via their statement.
@someones_no_one @lancstelegraph It's very disconcerting when a piece is so skewed it fails to properly present legislation accurately, appears, to focus on erroneous....
