Iโm sitting in an airport and I overheard a mom talking on the phone and crying. Her 20year old son has been diagnosed with cancer.
I spoke to her for a few minutes and told her I would be praying for him. She seemed pleased to hear that.
Please join me in praying for Tyler.
Thank you!
@Lllxmmb0rgh@FrStephenImb Because there needs to be an articulable limit to mercy or you get EU countries giving 1 year to murderers and 6 months to rapists.
@Msbtl11@FrStephenImb He said mercy was the focus and I asked him where the line was, given some EU nations are so merciful as to barely punish murder at all.
Instead of answering he goes off like this. Pray for him.
@father_rmv People in wheel chairs can be murderers, I appreciate the sentiment but this isnโt helping what people see as an emotional response to a just verdict
@FrMatthewLC I think the Church better addressing what people see as inconsistent logic would help bring people away from the death penalty, if well done
@FrStephenImb Why do you so often insult people?
The Bible is full of the death penalty being justified and so is church history and doctrine.
You say we should show mercy, asking where you draw the line is reasonable, given some countries are so merciful they barely punish murder.
My hot take is that seeing death was common in the past and kept people grounded in reality. Much like modern people want steak on their plate but donโt want to know how it got there.
@CharlesFLehman All good one caveat
โalthough it does no better at that than does life without parole.โ
Donโt agree, prisoners kill each other and DP prevents that
