Indiranagar, 12th Main when designed for the function that it actually serves and maintained well. I've visited this street many times and am frequently frustrated, as both a pedestrian and a driver. This redesign allows all people to exist and thrive ensuring safety for all.
If an 18 Km metro line boosts fitness, imagine what a 56 Km line does! 70-100 Km suburban rail corridors do wonders!
@krishnabgowda sir, we need road infra & a dense metro & suburban rail network. Plz build new lines; extend the Yellow line to Sunkadakatte & the Pink Line to KIA
Your dose of optimism for today. I've started walking a lot more after moving homes and thought I'll report garbage along the way on the Swacchata app.
Surprisingly, almost all issues got picked up and cleared. Had to reopen one case but impressed!
Here's a sample:
#PinkLine trains receive the crucial speed certificate from @RDSOLucknow.
The train was tested at 90 kmph. No speed restrictions imposed.
Coming up next: More procedures, including CMRS inspection.
If all is clear, the line should open by Aug 15.

👀In London's heatwave last week, @cityoflondon took the temperature - same day & time - in 2 nearby public squares.
The difference is green infrastructure. Urban tree canopy & vegetation are vital for coping with the climate crisis.
That's why we're planting 🌳🌳 across LDN
I'd urge you to report any dumps around you, it seems like this really does work!
Hopefully some day we can actually lose the tag of the garbage city :)
Side note: the app sucks, it will try your patience, but stick with it!
Daily reminder that public transport is not intended to be "in profit". No public transportation system anywhere in the world is or ever will be "in profit".
The existence of funded public services are essential to the functioning of cities, states and societies.
Bengaluru: A study by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), supported by Biocon Foundation, found that Namma Metro’s Yellow Line could significantly improve public health, wellbeing and quality of life in Bengaluru.
Based on surveys of 600 residents and commuters, study found 83% were willing to shift to the Metro. Researchers said Metro use can increase physical activity, reduce exposure to pollution and heat, improve mental wellbeing, boost productivity and lower accident risks. The study also called for better last-mile connectivity and pedestrian infrastructure to maximise benefits.@OfficialBMRCL@iiscbangalore
🚇 Bengaluru Metro is increasing services on the Yellow Line with two additional trainsets from 3 June.
📍 The corridor will now operate with 10 trainsets, improving connectivity to Electronics City & surrounding areas.
⏱️ Peak-hour frequency will improve to 7 minutes, while off-peak waiting time drops to 10 minutes.https://t.co/vWtZjY767w
If only our city was even remotely walkable.
So many commutes that don't need to be in a vehicle are done in one because of the piss poor infrastructure for walking, cycling.
These are basics for any "global" city.
Stop general traffic on service roads and convert them into broad footpaths + a bus lane. This would be required even after metro.
@bengawalk@PranavBalakrish
@seatedfighter No one's trying to trick anyone into anything :)
I left the watermark intentionally to show that this is fictional, but very likely to happen if the project goes through.
So we want to destroy the current neighbourhood to build this?
Guys, I think we've lost the plot completely.
Run a tram line or the underground IRR metro to boost the capacity of the IRR and continue to enjoy the beautiful trees and calm.
@shedfur It's not realistic to blindly sit and oppose any development to the city. More people migrate here everyday, we need to expand out our services and improve the quality of life.
But in this expansion, it's important to focus on what scales well, and what doesn't.
@shedfur While the IRR metro is a non negotiable, I do thing they'll have it run underground and not be elevated since land acquisition will be tough in the CBD.
@Bharatiyalog26 That's probably the best way to get the message across right now. The aim of using Gemini is to prevent the right image from becoming a reality :)
