Senior software engineer at @BlueOrigin by day and indie game dev by night. Check out my game projects, @SolarCommand and @StarAgeCombat! Opinions are my own.
Ed Dwight was our nation's first Black astronaut candidate but only recently achieved his dream of spaceflight at the age of 90.
As Chair of the National Space Council, I am celebrating Black Space Week by uplifting Ed's story and the achievements of Black Americans in space.
@TheVTran Gotcha, so I just have to make a completely ridiculous game that you and the rest of Innersloth will be obsessed with.
Incidentally, what is your stance on playing a homicidal gelatinous cube escaping a secret research laboratory? Just asking. Not doing market research I swear.
@Kesswylie Other unfun mechanics in MTG include...
- Counterspells
- Stealing cards
- Land destruction (the ultimate in unfun)
These mechanics can still be a part of the game, they just have to be used sparingly, and cards with these effects often have secondary fun effects.
@Kesswylie Milling is an unfun mechanic for decks without graveyard interaction.
An unfun mechanic makes one player win harder by restricting the other player's ability to enjoy the game. Newer players in MTG like playing big scary cards and feeling powerful. Mill destroys that experience.
@SimonNordon@unormal Google can only track installations from the Google Play store on Android phones. If you sideload an app using the Android debug tools, Google won't know you installed it.
And it turns out "sideloading" on PC is what we in the business call "normal installation".
@unormal Unreal seems way better as a platform for bigger 3D titles and Godot is way less risky to use for 2D projects. I don't think Unity makes sense for new projects anymore.
@krishnanrohit There are still software engineers that can build this! But it's like ordering a handcrafted rocking chair instead of the latest in chair technology. Not many clients want their new site to look like this, so it's a dying art.
@unormal Ooh, ooh, I did something similar to MVC for my first game, Solar Command! Although because I was new at things, it ended up being more like model-view-action? So I guess I dodged a bullet.
Entity-component architecture seems way better for real time games.
