On 31 July 2026, the NSDCA Core Committee met with members and local landowners from Nhava Sheva to address shared concerns, current challenges, and a coordinated path forward.

PSI Atul Daiphale was also invited to share the policing perspective, receive ground-level feedback and discuss the practical constraints faced by both sides. The engagement reinforced the importance of constructive dialogue, cooperation and balanced solutions.

The Empty Container Depot (ECD) ecosystem at Nhava Sheva contributes to the economy through GST-linked revenues, vendor payments, transportation activities, micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) business, skilled employment, and allied services throughout the logistics chain.

Each container movement supports a broader economic cycle, encompassing repairs, equipment, fuel, security, maintenance, as well as the involvement of transporters, local vendors, and service providers.

Strengthening ECDs means strengthening trade continuity, livelihood stability and the economic ecosystem that supports India’s EXIM growth.
