A raid by the Thane Forest Department, based on a tip-off from the Kalyan Forest Department, uncovered several reptile species and a critically endangered orangutan in a rented flat in Dombivli. Wildlife Crime Control Bureau volunteer Ankit Vyas highlighted the threat to orangutans from habitat loss and illegal trade. This operation is one of the largest in Maharashtra's history.

A new variety of Dipcadi concanense was discovered from devrukh pleatue & named devrukhense. This variety blooms in an area of 1 hectare on the plateau of Sadvali, Devrukh during the monsoon. @IUCNRedList declared D. concanense an endangered species.
