Since I'm from Andhra, I can tell you with confidence that Kapus are more Brahminical than the Brahmins themselves. I'm convinced that caste harassment is what abetted the Dalit student to suicide.

That sentence is not coming from a politician. It's coming from IIT Bombay's own students, standing on their own campus, speaking in front of faculty after one of their batchmates is gone.

They're saying the pressure, the humiliation, and the caste climate of this place are real. His parents have said the same thing in harder language: that a professor had been targeting him for months.

If @iitbombay wants to argue there is no casteism there, it now has to answer the students who study there, not just issue a statement maligning the deceased kid.

The "top R&D brains" line does not survive the data. Harvard, Stanford and MIT have 170, 141 and 85 Highly Cited Researchers on Clarivate's 2025 list. No IIT even ranks among the leading institutions. That research gap does not make the SC/ST Act the villain.

What do you want now? You don't want police to register an FIR after a student's death and when the family & friends are alleging months of casteist remarks and threats?

Well, the SC/ST Act exists to deter and punish caste-based atrocities. If the professors were already generating world-leading innovative research at IITs, the citation, Nature Index and patent numbers would not look like this.

Treating every invocation of the law as a plot to drive "meritorious GC scientists" abroad is stupidity and displays your hatred towards the marginalized communities.

98% of faculty at top 5 IITs are so called upper-caste, reservation not implemented. Yet, none of them made it into top 100.

Reason: it lacks diversity.

IIT BOMBAY students are saying that Sahil Wakode was harassed and thus committed suicide, but the Suvarna lobby, sitting hundreds of kilometers away, is acting as a judge and declaring the professor innocent.
