Very honored that NALSAR Univeristy of Law was one among the very few pragmatic groups who invited me end of last month to speak on science, rationalism and humanism. I met and spoke to a niche, logical group of young faculty and students who gave me hope that irrational narrratives, dogmatism and bandwagon fallacies will be questioned.
This "witch-hunting" will only strengthen the rationalists. The time for equating organizational tenure, seniority or age with moral or factual correctness is going to be over. Boomer generation and sycophantic nationalist millenials should start coping with this fact.
Margaret Mead said "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
🚨 NEW UPI SCAM: The "Rogue Auto QR Code" Device Takeover 🚨
A highly sophisticated UPI scam is targeting commuters using Android phones. Within minutes, victims are seeing their bank accounts linked to remote devices without their consent.
Here is exactly how this technical exploit works and how to protect yourself:
💻 The Mechanics: How It Happens
1. The Hijacked QR: The fraudster displays a custom QR code. It does not open a secure payment page. Instead, it triggers an Android deep-link "Intent" payload.
2. The Forced Verification SMS: The malicious code forces the victim's phone to draft and send a hidden, encrypted UPI registration token (like the cryptic HDFCUPI... text seen at the bottom of the screenshot).
3. The Remote Device Bind: The scammers enter the victim's phone number into multiple banking apps on *their own burner devices*. When the victim's phone broadcasts that encrypted SMS token, NPCI systems mistakenly validate the *scammer's* phone as the legitimate primary device.
4. The Multi-Bank Explosion: Once the phone number is bound to the scammer's handset, automated scripts fetch every bank account linked to that number (HDFC, Axis, ICICI, etc.) in a matter of minutes.
🛡️ 100% Sure-Fire Kill Switches
If you or someone you know receives a sudden flood of UPI activation messages:
* Dial *99# Immediately: From the affected SIM, dial this universal USSD code. Select the option to Block UPI or Disable UPI Profile. This works instantly across all banks without needing internet.
* Call 1930: Reach out to the National Cyber Crime Helpline immediately to report active device-binding fraud and freeze downstream channels.
* Check SMS Forwarding: Dial *#21# to ensure the hacker hasn't secretly set up call or SMS forwarding. If they have, dial ##002# to wipe it out.
* De-register Your Apps: If you still have access to your Google Pay, PhonePe, or BHIM apps, go to settings and select De-register UPI Profile. This forces a termination of all external sessions.
💡 Golden Rule of Prevention
NEVER scan a street vendor or driver's QR code using your phone's default camera app or generic QR scanners. Always open a trusted, official app like Google Pay, PhonePe, BHIM, or your official banking app to scan. Safe payment interfaces will strictly block malicious device-binding intents.

Regular blood work for sugar and cholesterol is useful, but it is still very basic. Even ECG and Echo may catch heart issues only later in the game.
At the bare minimum, please consider getting a Calcium CT Score test done.
If the score is positive, talk to your doctor about whether a 640 CT scan or further evaluation is needed.
Detecting early signs of atherosclerosis can help us take action sooner, slow down progression, and improve the situation with the right lifestyle and medication. 🙏🙏🙏
#WATCH | Bengaluru, Karnataka: Dr Devi Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Naryana Health says, "Every Indian, at the age of 17 must get the blood test done. This is the guideline now issued by the Cardiology Society of India because if the cholesterol level is high, they can manipulate the diet and all the men at the age of 35 to 40 should undergo a routine test along with CT scan of the heart. Anyone with the family history of heart disease must go for the checkup at the age of 30 itself, not wait for long time. All the diabetics should go for the checkup even earlier than 30 years. It is important that everyone should know their numbers. They should know what their blood pressure is, cholesterol number is, their heart numbers are. Today we find large number of young people getting into extreme sport. Even if you are very young, 17 or 18, if you are going for extreme sport, you must go for a checkup... The best way to know what the cardiac problems are to the test done. As I said, simple tests which can be done within one hour, once a year. If the CT scan is normal, for the next seven years or ten years you don't need to bother..."
