Video footage highlighting the dangers of lightning, shows the moment a man was struck by lightning while walking his dogs in Texas last week. He was revived by good Samaritans rushing to his side and administering CPR until they could feel a pulse. He is currently recovering.

While hurricanes pose the greatest threat to life & property, tropical storms/depressions also can be devastating. Hazards from hurricanes include storm surge flooding, inland flooding from heavy rains, destructive winds, tornadoes, and high surf/rip currents.

This spectacular phenomenon, known as a "wet microburst," occurred over a lake in Hungary, on 08/16/19. As some my know, microbursts can--and do--occur over land, particularly during intense severe thunderstorms. When they do occur, the result can be severe and localized damage.
A rare tornado injured 19 people, 2 of them severely, in southwestern Luxembourg left a path of destruction that made up to 100 homes uninhabitable. Even in parts of the world where dangerous weather's uncommon, this storm illustrates the need to always be aware of conditions.
This Day In Weather History
1980-A record 42 consecutive days of 100 degree heat finally ended at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. There were 18 more days of 100 degree heat in August, & 4 in September. Hot weather that summer contributed to the deaths of 1200 people nationally.
