We fought an election with our bank accounts frozen. I don’t know of any democracy where that happens. During the election, our treasurer said we don’t have any money.

You can have vigilant voters, but you still need to run a campaign, hold conversations, and organise meetings.

In Indian history, I am the only person to get a prison sentence for defamation, with 20 cases against me. We have a chief minister who is in jail right now.

Indian democracy has been under attack over the past ten years and has been greatly weakened, but now it’s fighting back. I am confident it will fight back.
