Today I travelled to Rathnapura to distribute school items to children in the area. I was alarmed & concern to learn that most children now attend school without having meals. Teachers tell me that this is due to many families lacking basic food. #SLFoodCrisis

This is a clear sign of a disaster that is to come concerning our children. We need to take control of the situation and must implement school meals for low-income families & in schools, they attend to. This is a mammoth task. All Sri Lankans must rally to save our children.

Our @ColomboSLRCS along with @Uber managed to distribute much needed economic packs to most vulnerable communities in the Colombo district as part of our partnership to aid economically vulnerable people. #LKA #SLEconomicCrisis

The 3rd Phase of the donation project will distribute food parcels to more than 7,000 most low-income families in the Northern Province with approx. 35,000 beneficiaries to improve their nutrition conditions.

A total of $ 340,000 cash grant by 🇨🇳 Red Cross Society to 🇱🇰 people.

The nutrition conditions of 9,160 vulnerable families with approx. 45,800 beneficiaries in Western & Central Provinces #SriLanka have been significantly improved thanks to the 1st & 2nd phase of food packs donation by Red Cross Society of #China: @SLRedCross completion report.

Sri Lanka Red Cross Society - Gampaha Branch is among the people assisting victims of the severe weather. Vishakawata in Ja-ela has been affected by 121 families, the emergency response teams are on ground conducting assessments and providing assistance.

Farmers in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, working with Sri Lanka Red Cross and @IFRC have boosted their incomes by planting mung and black-eyed beans.

The cash assistance for struggling families is mostly going towards food, utilities, health, transportation costs, and debt repayment.

In order to support children's education amid the current #EconomicCrisisLK, the SLRCS continues to provide stationery packs to children in different schools throughout the Ratnapura district, with the support of the @ifrc.

Our Kandy Branch Disaster Response Team has assessed the needs of those affected by recent #floods & is currently distributing #relief packs to severely impacted families in the Nawalapitiya division.

SL’s vulnerable community is growing at an alarming rate. The #LKA Government, business community, private sector along with all actors in our financial sector should come together to address economic issues. Solutions we seek must ensure that we do not repeat the same mistakes.
