Today I travelled to Rathnapura to distribute school items to children in the area. I was alarmed & concern to learn that most children now attend school without having meals. Teachers tell me that this is due to many families lacking basic food. #SLFoodCrisis
This is a clear sign of a disaster that is to come concerning our children. We need to take control of the situation and must implement school meals for low-income families & in schools, they attend to. This is a mammoth task. All Sri Lankans must rally to save our children.

The current #EconomicCrisis in #lka will push a lot of vulnerable communities towards more significant challenges. @SLRedCross is in the process of surveying how many will fall into the most vulnerable category. At this 11th hour, we need to unify to face this challenge. @ifrc
