Five years ago, the House passed the #EqualityAct to protect LGBTQ+ Americans.
Five years later, it is still not law.
I will continue to fight to protect marriage equality, repeal the trans military ban, close health gaps, & support LGBTQ+ people.
The Transgender Bill of Rights also supports intersex bodily autonomy & human rights! The resolution calls for a ban on nonconsensual surgeries on intersex children. Every person deserves to feel safe and accepted and have the freedom to make decisions for their own bodies.
As our Director of LGBTQ+ Affairs Antonio King said, we will not back down from our commitment to everyone in Chicago's Queer community who needs support. We will continue to stand together against bigotry and oppression by an administration that has gone out of its way to attack LGBTQ+ serving institutions and undermine our quality of life.

Yesterday, I joined my fellow Chicagoans in Oz Park to protest the violence perpetuated by Trump’s ICE agents — including the murder of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. I also joined the LGBTQ+ community in a vigil for Renee, who leaves behind her wife and kids.
This administration has mobilized federal agents for illegal actions across the country. CBP needs to be back at the border where they belong, and ICE needs to leave our streets.
