Can you believe this?! A young pregnant woman’s husband denied her ANC visits. The woman attended only the first visit and when he learnt to it, he stopped her from ever going back to the clinic again. And even told her she would deliver from home when the times comes. And here is the funny thing, the guy has been filling the ANC card himself from home.
But one day this lady felt a severe headache and sneaked from home to the ANC clinic only for her to be found with Preeclampsia with severe features. Well, she was managed is being followed up to ensure she delivers safely from hospital. But imagine if she hadn’t run to ANC clinic that day?!
I’m just quiet suprised that we still have men who don’t support their women attending ANC.
According to WHO, the updated goal-oriented ANC model recommends a minimum of 8 contacts with a skilled healthcare provider throughout pregnancy. This includes at least 5 contacts for women with uncomplicated pregnancies, with more frequent visits for those with complications. The recommended schedule includes visits at 12, 20, 26, 30, 34, 36, 38, and 40 weeks of gestation. This approach focuses on providing personalized care, detecting potential complications early, and promoting a positive pregnancy experience.
ANC, or Antenatal Care, is an important aspect of prenatal care that helps ensure the health and well-being of both mother and baby. Through ANC, healthcare providers can monitor the pregnancy, detect potential complications, provide health education, and promote healthy behaviors. ANC is essential for identifying and managing conditions like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and other pregnancy-related complications. By attending ANC visits, mothers can receive timely interventions, reduce the risk of maternal and neonatal mortality, and have a healthier pregnancy outcome.
Lets all support ANC. Dear men, support your women attend ANC.

This is the day that the Lord has made. The Good Samaritan
This morning, I woke up exhausted. It was one of those chilly, rainy mornings when staying in bed felt like the best choice. But I pushed myself. By 6:30 am, I was on my way to work….
@MuganziDavid I honestly didn’t know where to start from 🤣because I used to write on sudden bounts of emotions. I don’t think this can facilitate book writing 🤣🥹
