The maximum penalty for cleanliness violations on trains and #railway premises has doubled from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 under rules notified on August 24.

No caste column in Himachal school admission forms from 2027-28.
Himachal Pradesh will remove the caste column from government school admission forms from the 2027-28 academic session, with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu saying the move aims to promote #equality and reduce #caste-based discrimination from the school level.
Caste details will still be collected through parents or guardians wherever required for welfare benefits.

Foreign remittances under the Income Tax Department’s scanner
The Income Tax Department has launched a nationwide verification exercise into suspicious foreign remittances after identifying entities that sent large amounts of foreign exchange despite reporting very small turnovers or having no apparent business activity.
The exercise covers around 394 entities, including 117 in land-border States, and 36 professionals who issued Form 15CB certificates for foreign remittances.
The Department is examining shell entities, the persons behind them, the purpose of the remittances and whether adequate due diligence was carried out before the certificates were issued.
