Eurozone just posted a quiet win
August PMIs surprised higher (!!!) manufacturing at its strongest in years, composite still expanding. Growth forecasts for 2026 nudged up to ~0.8-1.0%.

But the bigger story is structural:
Lagarde says Europe’s old growth model is eroding. Cheap energy, open global trade, and the US security umbrella are all weakening at the same time.

Swiss exporters getting hit by US tariffs + a strong franc. German car-parts makers already pivoting hard into medtech, robotics and defence.
Short-term resilience. Longer-term questions.
