In the first half of 2022, 551 Kias or Hyundais were stolen in Chicago.
In the second half of the year 6,250 were stolen, a 10x increase.

In 7 cities (e.g., San Francisco, San Diego, Fort Worth, El Paso) Kia or Hyundai thefts either remained consistent or only increased slightly between 2019 and 2022.
You may have heard that Kia & Hyundai thefts have risen following a TikTok trend last summer.
In our latest @USAFacts we combine data from 19 cities nationwide and find that while K&H thefts aren't up everywhere, it's a BIG problem for some cities:
