In case you’ve seen that tweet about faking a psychiatric condition and immediately getting disability benefits, a little reminder:

Right now, it takes 7.5 months (on avg) to get a decision on a new app. If you appeal, it can take years. Around 64% are denied.

In March 2023, 1 in every 65 wheelchairs transported in airplane cargo holds were mishandled — either lost, damaged, or delayed.

Spirit mishandled 1 in every 16. JetBlue: 1 in every 22.

In the first half of 2022, 551 Kias or Hyundais were stolen in Chicago.

In the second half of the year 6,250 were stolen, a 10x increase.

In 7 cities (e.g., San Francisco, San Diego, Fort Worth, El Paso) Kia or Hyundai thefts either remained consistent or only increased slightly between 2019 and 2022.

In our latest @USAFacts we combine data from 19 cities nationwide and find that while K&H thefts aren't up everywhere, it's a BIG problem for some cities:
