They tackle some of the biggest questions facing Americans today, with data helping ground the conversation. You won't want to miss it!
🏠 Mortgage rates are at a 3-year high. So, what does that mean for homebuyers?
TLDR: It makes buying a home more expensive.
Let's break it down using the national median new home price of $410,700. With a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage and a 20% down payment, here's what your monthly principal and interest payment would look like:
➡️Last year: $2,034/month at a 6.3% rate
➡️Now: $2,275/month at the current rate
That's $241 more per month — nearly 12% higher for the exact same home.
📈Why do mortgage rates go up?
Mortgage rates are influenced by everything from your credit score and down payment to broader economic trends. One big factor? The 10-year Treasury yield, a type of loan issued by (you guessed it) the Treasury with a maturity of 10 years.

Let's talk about the other kind of joint account.
Most cannabis is still a Schedule I drug, and banks that serve these businesses take on risk and extra compliance work.
In 2024, about 1,000 banks and credit unions reported serving them — that’s about 1 in every 9 banks.

How much does your state cover for Medicaid?
On average, states paid 35.2% of the overall spending on Medicaid, with the rest coming from the federal government. State spending ranges from 21.9% in New Mexico to 43.9% in Massachusetts.
Between FY 2014 and FY 2024, Medicaid spending went up 45% with a 3% increase from the previous year.
The largest benefit category within Medicaid was managed care with $496.1 billion in FY 2024.
Is productive debate still possible when we disagree on so much?
That's what we're putting to the test in our new #JustTheFacts Debate featuring @benshapiro and @profgalloway moderated by PBS Newshour’s @GeoffRBennett. Data doesn’t argue. They do.
