My grad course in gender and elections is one day a week during a kind of awkward time 4-6:45. So Iโm baking a little treat for every class I can. Today we learned about political parties and the recruitment of candidates, and I brought in classic chocolate chip cookies!

This is why you heard a lot of backtracking from GOP candidates on their abortion stances, or even just silence on the issue. And itโs not just Dobbs that has made abortion rights popular. Similar initiatives have an excellent track record of passing.
Happy Election Day! Iโm going to be watching the 11 ballot initiatives in ten states on abortion rights. (Nebraska has two: one to ban abortion starting in the second trimester, the other to establish the right to abortion until viability).
What has happened since Dobbs is every initiative protecting or establishing rights has been passed, and every one limiting has failed. Voters have also rejected elected officials who were against abortion. Abortion is popular, yโall.
