Is it "un-British" to protest? I wrote something about this nonsensical -- but also rather disturbing -- use of language.

@Sean_Feeney_ So the guy who makes up quotes understands what happened better than the jury who heard the evidence? Got it.

"await potential retrial" is a weird way of saying "found not guilty" #BBCBias

[Colin Davis @ProfColinDavis]

@dylself Not guilty for all defendants on aggravated burglary, not guilty for Zoe Rogers, Jordan Devlin and Fatema Zainab Rajwani of Violent Disorder. All other charges resulted in no verdicts, so no convictions for any defendants of any offence.

@LeftieStats @RealMediaGB Excellent news. BBC coverage leaves something to be desired. https://t.co/mHL19pAUK5

@crochetjenny I'm just curious as to whether you can perceive any injustice in a system that keeps people in prison for 18 months without trial? Presumably you admit the possibility that they could be found not guilty. In that event, would you consider there had been an injustice?

[Colin Davis @ProfColinDavis]

Question for Home Secretary @ShabanaMahmood:

May British citizens express the hope that you will not allow members of Palestine Action to die in prison?

Or would airing such a sentiment constitute a terrorist offence?

[Colin Davis @ProfColinDavis]

@crochetjenny There's a good principle about people being innocent until proven guilty. Do you really think quoting a statement from a prosecutor constitutes justification for someone being kept in prison without trial for 18 months?

[Colin Davis @ProfColinDavis]

@crochetjenny 18 months on remand.

[Huda Ammori @HudaAmmori]

Umer is accused of throwing red paint on two military planes at RAF Brize Norton, to prevent their use in the Gaza genocide.

He faces 18 months on remand before trial, far exceeding the pre-trial custody time limit of six months.

Now, he's the seventh to join the hunger strike.

[Colin Davis @ProfColinDavis]

@crochetjenny Does the state have an obligation to offer trials to individuals it imprisons? Or can it leave them to rot in prison indefinitely? At what point does this become persecution?

[Jonathan Rowson @Jonathan_Rowson]

Chess is brutal, but also intimate. It’s a kind of symbiotic cognition in which we can feel each other’s pain as one shared feeling. What strikes me about this video is not so much Ivanchuk’s desolation but Naroditsky’s empathetic awkwardness- it almost looks like an apology.

Activist Okey Vitalis Nnorom who joined the Omar AlMokhtar Flotilla sailing alongside the Global Sumud Flotilla, remains in detention, despite earlier false reports claiming he was handed over to the Nigerian embassy in Jordan. The occupation authorities deliberately obfuscated information and misled lawyers about the detainees’ status.

Supporters are called on to contact their local Nigerian embassy and the Nigerian government to demand Michael’s immediate release.

[Melissa Sigodo @melissasigodo]

Nigerian activist Okey Vitalis has reportedly been held captive by Israel for a week. He was onboard an aid ship heading towards Gaza before it was intercepted. Members of the Omar Al-Mukhtar Flotilla are appealing for his secure release.

Surreal, Labour's leadership repeatedly said the UK is not selling arms to Israel

But Israel's tax authority shows the value of UK arms sales to Israel

Shame on Labour - thank you #C4News for doing what others dont bother to do

@BBCNews History offers us a stark warning about what happens when people are labelled "un-British", "un-American", "un-German".
But fine, let's talk about what it means to be British. I write about that here:
Is protest “un-British”?
https://t.co/ezfWsqD2IK

[Colin Davis @ProfColinDavis]

@AdamBienkov So our PM says that protesting against Israel's genocide is "un-British", and that what happens to British citizens seized by Israel is a matter for Israel.
Is "Britishness" about what best serves the interests of the Israeli state?
