Just back from a lovely weekend in Prague. Lots of excited tourists on the tram from the airport wondering what they’ll see in #morningside 🤢🫣here in #edinburgh@smagsocials
Normal day outside my living room window🤢Stinking rubbish overflowing🫣The Bins could be at the other side of the road by the grass but @Edinburgh_CC hired somebody from London to use Google and stick it outside our windows @SmagSocials@edinburghpaper@BBCWomansHour
The new normal across the whole South Meadows area.
@Edinburgh_CC told residents that the problems they were advising would happen with the new bin-hubs "couldn't", "simply wouldn't be allowed to" occur.
Yet here we all are.

SMAG has been informed that choosing bin hub locations was outsourced to a London co. that simply used a distance calculation and Google maps. No visits. No impact assessments.

Hi Zara. I have to report so often I’m beginning to wonder if I’ve got a part-time job with #edinburgh council. Bin monitor 🙄Bit tedious. If you’re employed by the council, maybe you could pass the information on when we send you the pictures? Every day? Thanks. June

@ProfJuneAndrews@edinburghpaper@EdinburghCC The collection rules are clear.
Only from kerbside outside the property requesting uplift and from 7am on the specific day of collection.
Disabled/elderly etc. can advise CEC so it can be collected directly from the flat at no charge.
Using a hub is fly-tipping!
John Swinney on Murrell guilty plea: "This is a tough day" he says, adding that all he can think about are the "decent people who have stood with me at coffee mornings and jumble sales and thrift shops raising the money and paying their money to party headquarters."
@SmagSocials Household waste. Under my windows. Note saying it’s not dumped. But that the council will pick up. That date has passed. Even more annoying than the usual fly tipping. Take your crap away, please. @edinburghpaper@EdinburghCC
@ProfJuneAndrews@BBCScotlandNews@STVEdinburgh@streetscape33 Residents were told this wouldn't happen because the Council had recognised South Meadows had a very large number of HMOs and it would have a dedicated fly-tipping vehicle attend the area every other day to deal with incidents.
That service was never delivered, @Edinburgh_CC.
@ProfJuneAndrews This is simply the 'broken windows' theory in action.
Because @Edinburgh_CC have allowed this situation to develop (after telling residents it couldn't, or wouldn't be allowed to, happen with the new hubs), it then attracts more anti-social behaviour.
Remember the single hub we highlighted the other day? Well, here it is again this afternoon... just after @Edinburgh_CC had collected the recycling in Marchmont.
It's not just continuous fly tipping, it's the shocking service delivery affecting the whole South Meadows area:
