We met with DOJ Access to Justice Dir. Rossi today to discuss opportunities to improve the recruitment/retention of public service attorneys, and the many ways their office supports attorneys working to serve vulnerable individuals. Looking forward to future collaboration!
Today, Director Rossi visited the #LegalAid Clinic at the University of Kansas School of Law to learn about how students are using their skills to represent low-income clients under the careful guidance and thoughtful teaching of supervising attorneys. #KULAW
I'm not on this platform much anymore, but when I am, it's to boost the signals of WHPK and Doc Films, two #uchicago institutions foundational to my college experience, which are now under existential financial threat as the school seeks to become "fun". Please read and support.
Great little student interview revealing the story behind my almost-famous @kulawschool law prof spoof rock band, which will have its one-night-only annual appearance tomorrow night! https://t.co/WVDqEnEfxp
@jamilajeff@kulawschool@memlawschool Sadly, I had some conflicts this morning so I could only tune in for your panel (and then more interruptions during that!) I hope I can review the rest of it if it was recorded - keeping my eyes out!
Today I get the privilege of hearing my brilliant @kulawschool colleague @jamilajeff discussing engaging 1Ls in critical thinking, situating cases in historical and political context; using narratives… Only time I have ever wanted to go back to 1L. @memlawschool symposium
HEY! We are doing this thing again. Grab those criminal records (or memories thereof) and come on down to the library on Monday to see what we can do to help. KU Law students to offer free help with criminal record expungements https://t.co/QpFYO6AdYU via @lawrencekstimes
@ProfYuille Every time! I am always running all the missed-flight-Plan-Bs through my head… and I never end up missing. It’s almost like a game: how close can I get to them closing the gate?
@Djuna22 Oh that person is my people. I lived for the dopamine hit/adrenaline rush of standing up to answer cold-call questions 1L year. Even the anticipatory joy could catapult me through the slow slog of reading for class… But, I was a sometimes-theater-kid way back when. Performance!
Wrapping up 5 days that started with an 8:30a Weds chat b/w Dean Chemerinsky and Justice Sotomayor… and included discussions from some of my best legal heroes re Dobbs… I just danced my booty off at @GovLauraKelly and @LtGovToland’s inaugural ball.
Not bad so far, 2023!
This conference leaves me floored and inspired again. Listening to an emotive @NazaninBoniadi speak to a crowd of some of the most influential US social justice scholars as she humbly accepts the Shanara M. Gilbert Human Rights award from @SaltLawOrg, emphasizing ongoing fight
Fantastic conversation with @DaraPurvis & @AskProfW, moderated by @islswan… and an engaged audience during our Family Law Section panel on navigating politicized parenthood in the classroom. And 😬my original fam law prof Susan Appleton in the crowd! Pedagogy ftw at #aals23 ❤️

This story is remarkably well-researched and compellingly told. And as a legal story, it makes everything we think we know about international custody disputes, adoption, and human trafficking seem inadequate. Read it… https://t.co/vvlkGjQ4oG
