@Malone_Wealth I guess we just use “Ponzi” to describe anything these days
If you want to get really worked up, though, contemplate Social Security. Promising future payouts using money from new contributors is more in line with an actual Ponzi scheme.
@maxnaut@intern I recognize that this is hype, but we are so much further from this state (world’s best surgeon that can also kick my ass) than any of the hype men would have you believe. Like…take what they say and add ten years minimum.
@Chaoswak@NoLimitGains The graph is total trading volume of both long and short ETFs, though.
I suppose you could say that gambling/degeneracy is having a blow-off top
@TheBTCTherapist The price is what the marginal buyer is willing to pay for the asset now. It has no relationship to how much money has been spent buying the asset in the past.
@jaysonhu2018 Umm I don’t think Microstrategy had anything to do with that bubble bursting. Companies were IPO’ing with nothing but a SuperBowl ad they bought with their entire Series A. Your waiter at Applebees was giving out stock tips. It looked absolutely nothing like this.
Yes, but…
- Historic AI capex continues, and will continue until one of these centibillionaires births ASI
- Most growth in semis and AI bottleneck stocks stems from actual revenue & realistic near-term projections redounding from forthcoming capex (as opposed to the pure vapor in the dot com bubble)
- most of retail still isn’t participating outside of their index funds
I don’t think we’ve had our “shoeshine boy” moment yet. It will happen, but probably some time after the increased exposure afforded by the Anthropic IPO.
Of course maybe this is just wishful thinking bc I haven’t milked this market enough yet 😂
ZEC is just the flavor of the week.
Privacy is a real use case, but if *realness* were important, then we would see a private blockchain with greater transaction speed and smart contract tooling rise to the top.
Alas, being real has seldom mattered in crypto. We might finally be seeing some changes in that regard with the recent move to profitable projects that spend proceeds on token buybacks (eg HYPE).
