New paper sharing mothers' experiences of Down syndrome screening, including how the way their test result was communicated impacted them. It calls for a more neutral approach to this chance communication, and for welcoming a diversity of choices.

Warm congratulation to Professor Mary McCarron - whose research, leadership and compassion has transformed the health, care, and living environments for people ageing with an intellectual disability as well as being a great friend and collaborator of the School of Medicine
Yesterday, we were proud to celebrate Professor Mary McCarron, Director of TCAID, as the inaugural recipient of the Dean’s Award for Distinguished Service to Health Sciences at @tcddublin 👏
This honour recognises her outstanding leadership and lasting impact across research, education, and policy in intellectual disability and ageing.
The award ceremony also marked the unveiling of a new portrait of Professor McCarron, commemorating her two terms as Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences—the first woman and nurse to hold the role at Trinity. 🎉
Congratulations, Professor McCarron, on this well-deserved recognition!
We also extend our warmest congratulations to all recipients of last night’s Dean’s Awards—especially @eilish_king1, PhD student with TCAID and member of @OccTherapyTCD, awarded for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching in Professional Practice, and @LucianaLolich, Impact Officer to @TCD_SNM, recipient of the Professional & Support Staff Award for Innovations with Impact.
Congratulations all! 🎉
🚨 New study reveals that when used to summarize scientific research, generative AI is nearly five times LESS accurate than humans.
Many haven't realized, but Gen AI's accuracy problem is worse than initially thought.
Rock in peace, Mike Peters. First sighted with The Alarm, Dingwalls, 1982, the night Johnny Thunders came on for Sylvain Sylvain's encore. Last connection - the happy and optimistic email he sent me a month ago, still full of life and good feeling. Travel on well, Dude.
New free open access paper. How the range of education research expertise has narrowed over 20 years in UK. So-called mixed methods appears to be dying. Most people only know how to do so-called qualitative work. What a shame.
