To do impactful, creative, meaningful work in joyful and supportive collaboration is all I ever wanted as an academic. For this work to then win the Academy of Management Journal’s Best Paper award for 2022 is surreal. Thank you for recognizing this work @AOMConnect
@SandraNoDuerme I wrote it down because it is so inspirational! It captures my feeling of working in higher Ed so perfectly. So glad it can help you, too
@SandraNoDuerme I loved this book so much: "It's tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow. It's the possibility of infinite rebirth, infinite redemption. The idea that if you keep going, you could win. No loss is permanent, because nothing is permanent, ever".
Love this distinction between kindness (honest, ethical and sometimes not nice) and niceness (agreeable, comfortable with the status quo)- such an issue for women in academia. Can’t wait for this book.
We're sad to report that Dhruva and Kris Chellani, owners of Classic Carolina, lost their lives in a car accident this week. Our thoughts are with the Chellani family and their Classic Carolina family. Please consider donating to the GoFundMe https://t.co/SgSjKT18z5
@SandraNoDuerme I have heard of this. Sometimes, committees will meet to look at candidates who have applied and make some-not all- their flyouts. They will then meet to look at next set of applicants and do the same. This can allow them to make early exploding offers or respond to others
@forepreston@FortuneMagazine Wow! This is the content I needed today! Would love to hear of other certificates that you’re looking at that meet a similar set of criteria
“R u ok” my 12-year old texted me at 3.29pm yesterday. And then “R u safe?” He had come out of lockdown on his first day of 7th grade to the news that UNC was in lockdown, too and that a faculty member had died. “I couldn’t breathe” he said “I thought it could be you”. (1/9)
PSA- Call your senators every single day. Create noise in the public sphere and don’t quiet down. Sending love to those at UNC for the loss of one of our own. As immigrant faculty members, I imagine we shared many similar hopes for our lives. May his memory be a blessing (9/9)
It strikes me that it is critical for us to ensure that this does not happen again. Vote, vote and vote. Don’t ignore local elections. Vote for candidates who will support gun legislation and win. Support campaign finance reform to see where the money is coming from. (8/9)
