Stop caring what other people think of you because they are mostly not thinking about you at all. When you’re 18, you worry about what everyone thinks of you; when you’re 40, you don’t care; when you’re 60, you realize no one has been thinking about you at all.

For every person who is addicted to doomscrolling, there is likely a partner who doesn’t want to hear it. Your dysfunctional love affair with your devices may be keeping you from paying attention to your spouse or partner & causing marital conflict.
As a Psychiatrist I've learned that...
Thoughts create feelings;
Feelings create behaviors; and over time
Our behaviors create the success or failure of our relationships, our work, and how healthy we are physically and emotionally.
Common forms of self-medication, such as alcohol, opiates, marijuana, or a diet laden with sugar, can help to calm the amygdala & #anxiety in the short run, but they also reduce the activity of the PFC, giving someone less control over these behaviors
When people genuinely feel happy about themselves, they don’t have the need to demand that others validate how amazing they are. However, that is not the case for people who have a pathological degree of narcissism.
